I'm not too keen on the 'mood music' coming from Chris via the Argus... seems to be focussed on retaining our current stars (good) but down-playing the oh so obvious need for a new striker and central defender.
With you on that, my immediate thought when reading these quotes was that I may be disappointed with the hopes for CB and forward. Personally think both of these are critical if we want auto, we can now add midfielder to that if Stephens is also off. For those talking about not needing a defender surely that agreement has been ended with the injury to rosenior, potentially leaving us with a debutant at RB at Newcastle. Not something to look forward to.
If and it is a big if at the moment the departure of Stephens would I believe leave us no stronger than last season and possibly weaker, certainly in defence in my opinion.
