Don't worry though, we'll easily finish top 2 this season.

After all it's not as if the team wasn't good enough then and is clearly weaker now.
In a division that has got considerably strong.
I wouldn't let the fact that we didn't beat a top 6 side last season bother you either,.
We scored lots of goals against Mr M Mouse teams and now have 1 in 10 Glenn, so all is well.

How many times does it need to be said? We are clearly stronger than the first half of last season.

In the second half of last season, when we had this squad, then we comfortably in second in the league and easily good enough to go up.

Sure ?

Teams first game 15/16, likely squad/first game 16/17.
13 Stockdale - Stockdale
2Bruno - Rosenior
3 Greer - Bruno
5 Dunk - Dunk
12 Bong - Bong
20 March - Knockeart
7Kayal - Kayal
6Stephens - Sidwell
30Lua Lua - Skalak
9 Baldock - Baldock
10 Hemed - Hemed

Substitutes
1 Mäenpää - Maenpaa
11 O'Grady - Murray
14 Calderon - Ben White
18 Forster-Caskey - Murphy
23 Rosenior - Manu/Lua Lua
24 Ince - Ince
26 Rea - Ben Hall

Injured or suspended first team players
Crofts (15/16)

16/17

- Towell
- Stephens
- March
- Uwe*

Hughton said yesterday that March and Uwe should be back within "weeks". Stephens will be back for Forest.
This is putting aside a couple of new signings that Hughton has consistently said is needed , and they are working on (witness bids for Duffy etc) .
You could assume for arguments sake that we are going to sell players but Bloom and Hughton have both in rejecting offers and talking it up "we need to keep our best players - the chairman has been excellent" don't sound like this is about to happen.

I can't really argue with your logic, and in a few weeks we may well be stronger..however, I really think the start of the season sets the tone.. I am concerned that Bruno will play at Centre Back.. no doubt he can fill-in, but lets not pretend that it's ideal.. At Derby, we are likely to be under all sorts of pressure for long periods of the game, and we are not going there with a recognized centre-half.. That concerns me. I know the season isn't finished in August, but your confidence levels, settled players can be rocked by the end of the month..

We beat Hull 1-0 at the Amex.
We only lost to Boro, with a seriously depleted team, no other top six team beat us, we only lost a total of five games, we were the best team in the division for the last three months of the season, we need only two more signings in the next four and a half weeks, to improve the squad from last season, and to hold those players we have.

Thanks for actually making it so clear as it was the same point I was trying to make to him. Also, Goldson is left off your list of injured players.

We are stronger in every area than we were a year ago except full back where Calderon and Chicksen have left and been replaced by young players (and we have no idea how they would do). The only issue we have at the moment is a couple of injuries to centre backs.

We are stronger even at left back as Bong is back as No 1 with both Rosenior and Adekugbe hopefully being better than Calderon and Chicksen.

Rosenior better than Calderon (now) and Chicksen. Surprised anyone even questions that! Better left back than Bong - who's not been the same since returning from injury - on current form too

This. If Newcastle or someone else come in for AK and the price isn't perfect and AK is happy to stay we're good. If we're bottom 6 and the toon are top and unbeaten on August 30th, players might well start rocking the boat.

For clarity I'm not saying we're going to be a bottom six team before people go mental, I'm just giving an example.

Maybe he will. But for now the sooner we get Bruno back to RB with Rosenior on the left the better.

I thought the majority said Bruno was MOM yesterday at CB or is it another example of Calderon he can do no wrong how ever bad he plays or mistakes he makes. I dont know I didnt go to the Lazio game. Watched the 2nd half on stream and Bong looked ok.

Will we end up selling before we buy?

Yes, he may have done very well at CB, but I'd still rather have him playing in his proper place. And I think you'll find my post clearly stated that Rosenior is clearly better than Calde is now.

From my point of view against Laziio Bruno did well with getting some important challenges in and generally showing a lot of desire. Where he will get found out is on set pieces. He isn't great in the air and in the game against Derby we will need a strong centre pairing. Let's hope we score more than them
