The N word I believe

“That one friend that acts like they’re black #N***aPlese”

The must shocking thing to me is that fact a club the size of West Ham don’t have somebody who sits down with a list of offensive words and goes through new signings Twitter accounts just to cover their arses.

How long would it take for someone to search ‘@JaredBowen c*nt,’ ‘@jardenbowen n*gga’ etc etc and it would avoid all possible repercussions of old tweets surfacing - as that’s probably exactly how this tweet was found in the first place!

Oddly enough I agree with both of you (if that's possible).

You can't move these days for people trying to foment outrage online, agenda driven all of it. However, once seen it can't just be ignored pour encourager les autres.

It'll have been largely forgotten by the time the Premier League restarts. He may have one or two awkward conversations with teammates to get out of the way, but so you should when you've been stupid.

Does it need an 'investigation' or just a serious chat and statement given that the individual has already apologised. I think there are still bigger issues to fry e.g. why male footballers feel scared to admit they are homosexual. I also think its an attempted distraction from the Barry Burnell stuff.

Don’t be so daft. They’re essentially investigating a child in childish idiocy shocker. He also didn’t finish his homework once which I suppose the FA should investigate next. As others said, it’s agenda driven and the epitome of a modern witch hunt. IMO of course

They didn't bring it up though. They can't ignore it, Bowen can't ignore it, it's out there and needs to be addressed, or its acceptance by omission

It's not a witch hunt, they're doing Bowen a favour and he should be pleased it's being investigated, as he can apologise, blame it on a naive child and move on. If it's not dealt with it just sits there, available for all to know about and draw conclusions, and his character would aways have that question mark on it.

*also have serious question marks about you if you equate a racist tweet with not finishing your homework.

"The FA said it was "aware" of the tweet and "looking into" the circumstances."

I suspect they are merely checking that he wasn't hacked (this being the first refuge of an online scoundrel) or stitched up. He's apologised and that, really, should be that.

However, that, technically is an investigation and stating that one has taken place should make other players think twice.

Obviously there are bigger fish to fry.

The N word I believe

Same word that appears in Mike Tyson’s autobiography over 200 times, which was published around the same time as this alleged offence.

The world truly has gone mad, hopefully for the generation behind for the 40 somethings the process will be reversed?

Your social media posts and online presence affects all aspects of life now unfortunately, I learnt that to my detriment a few years ago when I was rejected for a job on the basis of something I’d shared on Facebook when I was in my teens, It’s a sad world that an online persona is now becoming more important than your actual person.

The world is only going to get stranger and stranger.

The world is only going to get stranger and stranger.

But that is the issue. Why would an employer assume that your online persona is not your real persona? If it isn't your real persona then why is someone pretending to be something that they are not online?

The crux of the matter is that social media is not speaking. It is publishing and, as this person has found out, any post will effectively be there forever. Whilst I do not think that something that someone posted 9 years ago at the age of 15 is relevant now, it should be a cautionary lesson to everyone as anything you post online could come back and bite you in the bum.

Lighten up. It’s your choice to deliberately feel outraged and super serious in a holier than thou manner. And cast dispersions, wrongly, about others who see it for what it is. A schoolboy error, literally. Get on with your own life you sanctimonious tool and stop judging children. Your own childhood was full of such gaffs, ask your parents and peers.

I don’t really care what was written in a book I was answering the question what the tweet was about. Something written by a child should never be used against them especially when there’s no evidence of continuing abusive tweets

Dumb shit

The endless oversocialization keeps going. If this is the way we're going to do it, it would be easier to just bring back corporal punishment in schools and homes.

I post on a cross section of issues . Racism is an important topic but I have wide interests and have opinions on most things . Lots of the same posters I see regularly post on similar threads . Have I said anything you don’t fully agree with ? Or do you not tolerate any views that might be marginally different from yours ?

Think you will find the majority of my posts are football related .

Don’t worry - he’s just a tw@t IMO. And likes to bully people even though he’s a mod.

Bet he’s a real life failure and this makes him feel important.
