Has just turned up at my workplace after being out this morning. She has a voice like a fog horn and I'm contemplating going to work in an Airport depearture lounge for a bit of piece and quiet.

Any suggestions how I can get her to shut up?

Smile sweetly and say "Sorry, didn't get that, can you repeat that".

or more sarcastic answer will be "Sorry, I don't think the guy down the road didn't hear that"

Or get a pair of earplugs!

Put your phone to your ear, as if you are on a call.

Put hand over mouthpiece and say to the room "Can I have bit of quiet please, this is an important call!"

Keep doing it when she is "booming" and hopefully she will get the message!

If this fails just tell her to shutup! She obviously can't take hints!

Why don't you tell her that she has a voice like a fog horn and that you're contemplating going to work in an Airport departure lounge for a bit of peace and quiet.

I've just thrown a Alex Ferguson style hair dresser rant as the 'International business man' of the year (or so he thinks) started shouting over me to someone else in the office. I've snapped with a rant along the lines of 'FFS I couldn't hear anything on that last phone call (it was mate telling me to bring some beer but thats not the point), cant you lot have a bit of respect blah blah blah' Everyone looked a bit shocked for a few seconds and then started talking just as loudly 2 minutes later.

I can't cope anymore I'm going home.

Normally find showing her a great deal of attention, and then asking her out leads to a long and embarresed silence.

"accidentally" send her an e-mail that was "meant to be to one of your mates" saying that she has a voice like a foghorn and etc.
