Just as an observer, I thought Boris spoke very well today. No bumbling, just very straight forward and to the point. Not that you would know of course if you did not watch it live, as Sky only seem to be highlighting the question he answered about the Queen. Oh well.

Trade figures are irrelevant when deciding who rules our country...forget the money and focus on what matters ???
Let's be frank the chances are very very high that we'll be much better off out and will always trade with Europe regardless of the hideous amounts of scaremongering.

If you actually think the European Union is a great thing then fair enough, but if anything many countries in it have got far far worse. The Brussels bunch are not interested in poverty throughout Europe and they're not interested in immigration amongst many other things.
If you want a European state and Brussels dictating and creaming us in which is plain to see then you crack on.
I'd bet my right bollock that if we stay the European Union they will drum up more idiotic policies and in tern let other countries like turkey in and who knows who else.
The identities of countries are changing and this will get far far worse.

No they don't. 28bn per month in exports are risk. 3million jobs, and we will most likely end up having to accept free movement in order to have access to free trade.
So all the goods we import from the EU will just dissappear up Merkel's aarrssee? ..... just wondering. ...they need that trade.... crickey I am sure even one eyed HT would understand that. It is a 2 way set of transactions.

Here we are again, the EU need us more than we need them. Utter rubbish, we aren't as big or important as some of us think we are. Who holds all the cards? In the case of a Brexit, free trade torn up, re negotiation starts, who can hold out longest for a better deal? Who's pockets are deeper, who's economy will suffer fastest? I don't think the Germans are gonna breakdown crying that the Brits have gone and offer them free trade to come back with no strings. To think that is to utterly delude yourself.

There are probably many real semi skilled and skilled job vacancies even now but having one Europe wide job market reduces the need/incentive to train up the home grown workforce as any demand could be quickly filled by EU workers. Which is why after 10+ years of Labour government and 5 years of coalition government it hasn't happened. They have come to rely on large-scale immigration which is why they have done nothing about reducing the numbers of non EU migrants despite the rhetoric.

You can disagree that a guaranteed significant increase in hourly pay leading to an even starker difference of possible earnings when compared to their home country is unlikely to be a massive draw but I think any rational person would think the opposite.

Good summary.

I don't know personally but I'll defer to Stephen Hawkin and 149 other eminent scientists. Here's how it's going to change:

The theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking has backed the campaign for Britain to stay in the EU, saying Brexit would be a “disaster for UK science”.
A letter to the Times signed by more than 150 fellows of the Royal Society, including Hawking, claims that leaving the EU would hamper research in Britain because many young scientists are recruited from Europe.
The scientists write: “We now recruit many of our best researchers from continental Europe, including younger ones who have obtained EU grants and have chosen to move with them here.
“Being able to attract and fund the most talented Europeans assures the future of British science and also encourages the best scientists elsewhere to come here.”
Stephen Hawking was one of more than 150 fellows of the Royal Society who signed a letter to the Times backing Britain’smembership of the EU

The letter also said that increased funding from the EU has benefited the UK and science as a whole. The scientists note the example of Switzerland, which despite paying in to the EU has limited access to funds and struggles to attract young talent because of freedom of movement restrictions. “If the UK leaves the EU and there is a loss of freedom of movement of scientists between the UK and Europe, it will be a disaster for UK science and universities,” the letter says.
“Investment in science is as important for the long-term prosperity and security of the UK as investment in infrastructure projects, farming or manufacturing; and the free movement of scientists is as important for science as free trade is for market economics,” it adds.

150 Fellows of The Royal Society sign a letter. I would have taken more notice if this had been a significant number even a slim majority of Fellows, yet its neither. There are 1600 Fellows of The Royal Societey,1450 Fellows didn’t feel a need to sign the letter.
Of course funding is important but EU funding only accounts for 3% of Scientific Research and Development in Britain, the billions we put into the EU that is earmarked for science would still go into science here if we left its just we would be deciding that slightly bit more on what it is spent on.
Its also a bit rich setting up the EU as some sort of protector of Science when using Switzerland as an example. Switzerland had already previously been a full participant and receiver of scientific funds in the EU FP7 programme. It was just about to sign into the new Horizon programme when it did the unspeakable and held a democratic referendum and voted to curb free movement. Two weeks later the EU dumped Switzerland on its arse and refused to let them join the programme…..why on earth would you want to be part of such a vindictive organisation?

9 % of Fellows of The Royal Society sign a letter…….i remain under whelmed.

The economy is a transient thing. Up, down, crashing. It's a cycle, like a washing machine.
Owning your own country should be permanent and beyond price.

Oh well, I suppose we'll just have to wait for hundreds of eminent scientists and assorted Nobel prizewinners to make their case for leaving the EU. Until then...

good post that, as well as many other deciding factors it is always a good idea to bring up turkey, the inners as silly as they appear are just as worried as the rest of us are about turkey.. they will deny it because it suits their own side of the argument but they know just as the rest of us do that it is only a matter of time before turkey joins. and what the EU wants the EU gets and turkey is no exception.

makes me laugh how half of f*cking turkey isn't even in europe ffs !!! it just goes to prove europe has no boundaries...i dread to think who's next on their long list to join....SYRIA :? you laugh they are silly enough . ,
