No. Theresa May changed the rules in 2014.

How many people slipped in to this country illegally under Labour, hundreds of thousands. That's why the tories started tightening the system, nothing wrong with that, unfortunately like always innocent people got caught up.

You've got a darn sight more confidence in them than I have. This has been going on for over 4 years, and they're only doing something now, because they've been caught out.

It's easy to say sorry, it's something else to put it right. They haven't even sorted out the poor residents of Grenfell Tower yet.

But they are putting it right. Government said they are sorry, some will be getting compensation, what else can the government do?

But the wheels were set in motion when Labour were last in power. If they hadn't of done that this situation would not have arisen. Granted maybe the present lot should've delved a bit deeper before jumping in feet 1st. Both parties culpable and not one sided as most are painting it.

Amber Rudd and Theresa May to resign to start off with, although with TM, it's probably better the devil you know. It would be even worse if JRM or BoJo became PM.

How many illegal immigrants came in? We have a Border Force who can do their jobs well. Do you mean legal migration which the Labour government encouraged?

The Windrush generation between 1948 and 1973 had a legal right to be here. The rules changed in 2014, so the innocent were suddenly started being treated as guilty. Deport first and appeals after. Don't ask for cancer treatment, or carry on working in your job.
I'll be kind and say the Home Office got itself in a muddle and mixed up immingrants, but I can't. This is systematic racism. This is from someone who has voted Tory in the past.

Immigration Act 2014 - Labour were not in power. Theresa May was the Home Office minister

69 year old Canadian woman moved from Canada to Wolverhampton in 1971, got married, had three children and worked for the local council for more than 25 years as a dinner lady, meals on wheels driver, lollipop lady and cleaner.

A spinal injury a few years ago meant she had to give up her job, leading her to apply for benefits for the first time. In 2015, she was told her disability payments had been suspended because she was an illegal immigrant.

Please read the article. Not just the headline but the way this lady was treated by the civil servants, the threatening letter and being shoved from pillar to post. It's heartbreaking.

I think will come up is that this Government is to blame I'm afraid.

It was them who change the legislation. Although the "environment" was in motion it wasn't Labour who removed the clauses which protected these people.

Let's be clear. This is something the far right would be proud of.

It's chilling. Heads have to roll.

"Like always" I guess is an expected norm with this government.

So the nasty racist Tories have been trying to remove illegal migrants . Shame on them . May should resign and call a general election immediately .

No, the nasty racist Tories have been trying to remove LEGAL immigrants.

So:

- Theresa May changed the rules in 2014 when Home Secretary
- Phillip Hammond (then Foreign Secretary) was told by ministers in the Caribbean about problems in 2016
- Later in 2016, the Barbados government wrote to the Foreign Office about the scale of the problems
- The Foreign Office raised issues with Number 10 and the Home Office (Theresa May still in charge)
- Issues not taken seriously enough ... Amber Rudd (now Home Secretary) has said she knew about the problems for months, but "didn't see it as a systemic issue until very recently"
- It's now emerged that there were removal targets - Amber Rudd denied this yesterday, but has now admitted there were targets (which she didn't know about)

What an absolute mess. How is this shambolic scandal not getting the coverage it deserves?

Imagine if it was Labour in power? The pressure from the media would be so intense it would bring down the government.
