Thankyou. I may have once or twice insulted a few public figures for the sake of it on this site, but I'm deadly serious on this one. I can't believe noone else is picking up on the fact this pair have walked all over this guy's grave and he's not even cold yet.

Blimey, I didn't realise you were the residential gaurdian of the NSC Moral Compass.

Anyways, I appreciate your veiw on this situation (ish) - although you probably won't be too shocked when I say I am not in agreement with 'em.

The previous landlord/owner had his own long-standing & very well publicised views on who he wanted in his hostelry, but why should the new licensees carry out his bidding now? They're their own people by the sound of things: & it's their business to be run in their way.

Walking all over the guy's grave? Do me a favour.

I guess any extra custom they get will be by word of mouth. The club is hardly going to go out of its way to advertise its availability, is it? I can sort of understand where TCB, pasty, etc, are coming from, but what would the new owners be expected to do? Shut between 11 and 7 on a Saturday, and turn potentially break even/profitable business down? Remaining open, but with a no football fans policy, how would you tell who was and who wasn't? I hardly ever wear a replica kit, so how would the owners tell whether I was a Downs walker, a fan or a student?

Because they've been given the place by the guy with the anti-albion views. If they had bought it then fair enough, they can do what they want. But to accept what is basically a gift and then do everything the real owner would have hated is pretty shocking in my opinion.

Yes. I absolutely agree. If you inherit something like, say, a house you should leave the place absolutely as you inherit it, never changing anything, retaining the former owners stained sheets, orange curtains and portrait of Hitler over the fireplace because their far right views and cleanliness standards should be respected. That is, of course, how everyone decent behaves

You utter plank.

john never had time for football or smoking, and cert would not have entertained albion fans...one thing i can say for john, his lady friend done some super basic english grub, and good value at that

That's true if your idea of basic English grub is Thai curry - cos that was on the menu last time I ate there (and very nice it was too)

I can't see the problem. Somebody who doesn't like something dies but his successors do like it and do something different- so what? It's called change.

Who gives a f*** what the old landlord thought? At the end of the day, it's a pub, very near the stadium which is now claiming to be Albion friendly (and it's not the Hikers!). I'll have a pint there.

When you say his 'successors' you would assume they were new owners who had purchased the place. This was a generous gift from a bloke who didnt want the place to be football friendlly. I totally agree with the badger bloke. As soon as i read the article in the argus, i just thought what a way to say thanks to a guy who was no relation but gave you such a financial gift.

Put it this way....... had this couple told the the bloke they would be doing this, do you think he would have left the pub to them in his will???? Of course he f***ing wouldnt.

If John Woodruff was still alive and well I think he would have relaxed his views once he realised how much money there was to be made by welcoming a few well behaved football fans for an average of a couple of hours a week.

Pretty sure i've read previously he didn't need any more money. If this is exactly as it seems (which is of course highly unlikely from the Arsegas) then i'm in the 'this is bang out of order crowd'. When its a gift and the giver has such strong views on something you should respect them

What a pair of dickheads those two are/look. I've no time for the old landlord's opinions on football/the albion/Falmer, but if someone leaves you something as significant as a pub when they pass away the very least you can do is not go against exactly what they've spent the last ten years standing for. Scum.

One day (hopefully) you will read back on the completely unprovoked nastiness you filter this site with and reflect.

I suspect strongly it's merely an attempt to draw attention to yourself and wind other people up.

Each to his own, but I've never really understood the need of people to glean satisfaction from causing upset.

These people are hardly "scum", but then again neither are the many other people the frankly deranged descriptions you've decided to apply to them on this website.
