As someone "in the know". The banning of British bulldog in schools, Is that just another myth and only implemented by individual schools? or is it a H&S directive?

I can catagorically state it has nothing to do with H&S law, why would it? My guess is, if it happened at all, it was someone with safety concerns making the decision in isolation and then trying to justify it as a H&S directive. H&S directives are a myth in themselves. The HSE enforce the various laws pertaining to health & safety at work, and provide guidance on such (I don't work for them btw). They have no jurisdiction over schools - that is the local authority.

from what exactly? Slipping on ice (note I said ice even though it was just snow at this point and not frozen to ice yet)? Do you also keep them indoors when it rains for their safety? Wet floors can be slippery too. Bet you stop them going home at rush hour too as there is a higher percentage they may get hit by a bus.

The rest of the world must laugh at us. In Canada do they shut when it snows? Sorry boss, can't come to work today as there is snow, I'll be back in the spring. They must get f*** all done in the Arctic then!

Actually, all though this is USA, West Virginia to be precise, my best mate emigrated there a few years ago and within a couple of weeks of moving and starting his new job, there was 3 foot of snow overnight! Like a plonker he is, he parked his car outside the garage, so by the time he had cleared the car and drove in, he was an hour late. His boss said "why didn't you take a snow day?" Paid leave. He sent me a photo, unfortunately I don't have it handy, of his estate showing 3 foot of snow on the side of roads and the road completely clear. It looked as if the estate had heated tarmac! It had all been cleared within an hour or two!

Of course you are right it is more than reasonable, you can't take that one simple question alone, you will see from above it was part of another longer posting, but i was having trouble in getting a particular poster to communicate on the larger scale rather that than just chucking insults, in an attempt to help him I broke it down into single questions.

Wow.. You really don't seem to be able to post without being snide.

I notice you didn't respond to my other reply.. Was it too difficult for you to understand or would you like me to break it down for you?

Don't worry I won't use any naughty words, I can see that you're rather sensitive.

This also from the HSE Chairperson:

Ms Hackitt said, "You should know that HSE does not care about banning conkers, pancake races or playground games such as British Bulldog. Health and safety does not stop anyone from doing their job - it actually enables them to do it more safely and efficiently. This ranges from finding better ways to help emergency services to perform risk assessments and anticipate problems before they find themselves in life or death situations so that they can quickly adopt the right measures, to enabling small firms to comply with legislative requirements in a simple and proportionate manner."

Wow.. You really don't seem to be able to post without being snide. You started the abuse. I was trying to emulate you

I notice you didn't respond to my other reply.. Was it too difficult for you to understand or would you like me to break it down for you? I don't ignore anyone its rude, let me have it again or point me to the post number and i will respond. Unlike mine of which you have ignored completely, but now upset that i missed just one of yours.

Don't worry I won't use any naughty words, I can see that you're rather sensitive. Thank you, I'am a sensitive soul.

Highlights above.

Returning to the topic, the snow is an excuse to test a long-held theory about my girlfriend's eyes. All i can say is that I was taking a piss at the time.

Way too many people skive if there is snowbut as it's only one or two days a year not really a problem but when I worked for companies I would never take a day off because of weather, I certainly wouldn't ask.
