hmmmmm.

Again not sure the dates match up but it might JUST (if my memory is ok)

Gus played with Freund.
Fruend might have just been at spurs when Jurgen Klinsmann had his second spell
Klinsmann managed Frings for Germany?

i have a feeling you're one season out, although perhaps someone with better Spurs knowledge than I can help (wikipedia doesn't help that much)

Klinsmann's second spell was in the 97-98 season....Freund apparently joined 'in' 98 but I don't know if that was the second half of the 97-98 season or for the 98-99 season

the connection has to be that they've worked together..........not that they've simply been at the same club at various times

Okay clears that one up, cheers!

Surely as per "the rules of the game" set out by the OP, the second link phase (Chelsea-Hiddink in this case) can be indirect and can have no link to Gus...or have the rules changed somewhere along the line?

Link has to be a person not a club.

Gus Play for Chelsea;
Chelsea Clinton lives in America;
America Ferrera was the star of US sitcom Ugly Betty;
Ugly Betty was set in new York, as was other US sitcoms Sex and the City and Friends;
Friends are undoubtedly better than Enemies;
Enemies can sometimes go to War;
War, War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing;
Nothing, in numerical terms, is zero
A Zero was a fighter plane used by great effect by the Japanese Navy in the Second World War;
The Second World War was quite a kerfuffle involving many countries including Britain, Russia, Japan and Germany
Germany is the birthplace, I would presume, of Matthiaus, who is someone I have never heard of.

What do I win?

You win maximum respect! Awesome job.

This is stumping me.

I just got a link but then realised it's too many.

Poyet - Eliiot Bennet- Paul Lambert - Otmar Hitzfeld - Frings.

Or Poyet - Redknapp(at spurs) - > Hamann -> Frings?

Ah, i am talking about JAMIE Redknapp.

Poyet played with him at spurs I think, and redknapp had played with hamann at liverpool.

hamann and frings were then international team mates?

in which case you are correct!

i had;

Poyet played for Chelsea alongside Winston Bogarde
Bogarde played for the Netherlands alongside Aron Winter
Winter is the current manager of Toronto FC where he manages Torsten Frings

DONE IT!!!!

In 1993, whilst playing in a six a side football match I saved a penalty from Valeri Nepomniachi, who was the manger of the Cameroonian World Cup squad in 1990.

In his squad was the goalkeeper Jacques Songoo who played for Espanol in 1991
Also a colleague in that squad was Andreas Ogris, an Austrian international.
A member of the same squad was the goalkeeper was Otto Konrad who was also a member of the 1995 Real Zaragoza team.

Guess who else played in that team?

YES!!!
