Did they both play with Makelele? Trying to think of a Real connection

nah gus was long gone by the time claude joined chelsea.......i can't find any players that have played with both, the one I thought MIGHT work is juande ramos but carlos had left real by the time ramos became their manager

Gus -> Roberto Carlos.

I'm hoping i've found an interesting link and not bypassed an obvious one

-Gus played for Chelsea
-Chelsea have been managed by Guus Hiddink
-Hiddink manages Roberto Carlos at Anzhi Machakala

Gus had left chelsea quite a while before Hiddink.

Surely as per "the rules of the game" set out by the OP, the second link phase (Chelsea-Hiddink in this case) can be indirect and can have no link to Gus...or have th

the connection has to be that they've worked together..........not that they've simply been at the same club at various times

"Again Gus has to have worked directly with the first person and the next person has to have worked with the next part of the chain till the target is reached"

oooh- LEFTFIELD, but Freunds last cap was in 1998, Frings' first was in 2001

don't seem to have played with each other at club level either despite having both played for dortmund at one time or another

hmmmmm.

Again not sure the dates match up but it might JUST (if my memory is ok)

Gus played with Freund.
Fruend might have just been at spurs when Jurgen Klinsmann had his second spell
Klinsmann managed Frings for Germany?
