I know of someone today who was approached by a steward at half-time, told they'd been 'reported' during the first half and as a result were under surveillance.

So, you can just be a regular fan, be reported by someone with a grudge, and be walking an Amex tightrope.

This was my point. What happens if I fall out with someone and report them. Then you get a situation like the Burnley game where there was a lot of passion flying around and they say something the steward doesn't like. It can turn people into criminals.

But then, you are 'observed', and when the stewards realise you're just a normal fan enjoying the game, they will apologise and leave you alone. However, if they see something that breaks the rules (rules written on the back of every match ticket, and displayed prominently in the ground), then you are quite rightly ejected.

Can't see the problem myself. Then again, i'm not the sort of person that causes trouble.

Presumably then, if they keep getting reports about people which turn out to have no substance they will then have a look at the person doing the reporting - that would be sweet

I do not think anyone has a problem with people swearing, especially in context of the game. A bad foul against one of our players or a bad decision going against us. The crowd tend to stand up as one and vent their anger. However if you are going to constantly swear and be abusive towards players, officials, then you are likely to draw attention to yourself. There was someone sitting near to me today, who was constantly swearing and shouting abuse at some of our own players. He felt we were not getting the ball forward quick enough, we were 2:0 up at the time. Everyone around me will swear or shout and tend to do it as one when something happens on the pitch to warrant it. Football is about emotions and as a fan you go through them all throughout the match. However a few and only a few have trouble holding their beer and tend to be over the top.

If you've got stewards watching you, the ref denies us a stone wall penalty, and you call him a few obscene names in the heat of the moment (which i'm sure the majority would) you could end up losing your season ticket.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me.

If you've got stewards watching you, the ref denies us a stone wall penalty, and you call him a few obscene names in the heat of the moment (which i'm sure the majority would) you could end up losing your season ticket.

I'm sure they wouldn't sit and watch someone not being a twat for 88 minutes and then decide "oh he had an outburst along with 4000 others, better ban him"

Simple fact is that because some people can't help being bell ends, we end up having to have a system like this. Same way we have to have CCTV on the bus and door staff at the local pubs.

If someone clicks the report button on here Bozza, do you then ban them without good reason? Surely it's the same principle and you should expect the same common sense to apply?

Nothing wrong with passion or swearing. The point that does not make sense, is the person with the grudge. All they can do is report you, they can not remove you from the ground. So if the stewards monitor you and find that you are being to abusive they remove you for a good reason.
I do not think anyone has a real problem with swearing, its the person who feels they have to shout and swear abusively throughout the match.
