They have both been season ticket holders for over 35 years (each - one is aged 87), but apparently increasingly thinking they can't be bothered any more, especially given potential ongoing covid related crap.

Notwithstand the 'covid crap' why is it such a problem just to get in touch with the club to see what's needed. It might be a very simple solution. Not saying your friends are but there seems to be a lot of people on this thread ready to throw their toys out of the pram without really knowing what the alternative to the smartphone or id position is.

Let me just get this straight......
Some people are actually moaning that you are being given a chance to lend your season ticket to someone else, for a season (as long as the club have their details) without getting your season ticket taken off you if you're caught breaking the 'law'.
Put your tickets on the exchange if you don't want to part with £20 for the year and your mate doesn't want to part with £25. At least if you do that, on the few occasions I can afford to go, I can pay full whack for my under 18 & I to go. You get some money back, we go to a match. You lost some money, I paid a lot more.
As an example £84 for myself and my under 18 to go to see us vs Bournemouth, Dec '19. Last minute thing, I had some extra money and someone had put them on the exchange.
For the price of just over one match ticket to see Bournemouth you and a friend can share a ticket for the whole season without breaking the law, I really don't see what the problem is?
I'm not too happy about downloading tickets to the phone but that's simply because I have a habit of forgetting my phone or losing it, but it is what it is.

Just noticed Amex is a cash free stadium. Oh well if they don`t want my money so be it !! Unbelievable that !! but heh ho, much better to allow youngsters to use credit cards and spend money they haven`t got !!

They are allowed to use a debit card and spend money they have got you know, besides if they didn't have any money how would they have any cash

Anyone have any idea how the phone wallet will work? I can’t see any information on this.
I hope it’s going to be a one off downloading the season ticket for the season rather than having to a get ticket added for each game attended.

Virtually every single retail outlet (even the mobile coffee carts on the seafront) has gone ‘prefer cash-free’ due to covid anyway. ‘Unbelievable’ anyone would expect to be using cash.

Having to pay an extra £25 and the recipient also having to pay £20 seems a bit much to me considering the seat has already been paid for. Pretty out of order really.

The club know that most STHs can’t make it to every game and, in a way, getting the seat filled is helping the club out - looks better, match day spend etc. Instead of recognising this reciprocal relationship, they slap a price tag on it and not a cheap one at that.

It will lead to more empty seats and quite a few giving their seat up. Kind of feels like being held to ransom a bit like “Yeah, you don’t have to come to every game, but if you don’t, you have to pay US if you want your mate to use YOUR ticket”. Seems like a bizarre practice.

I know someone who can’t make evening games, so he’s already losing about £28 3 times a season, why on earth would he pay (or be expected) to pay more on top of that for no benefit?

I get the argument of filling empty seats, but there has been numerous threads on here of people saying they won't pay for a bottle of water, tea too expensive, food poor, beer bad. Are all these extras utilising season tickets without paying really going to be any different ?

Does anyone know what happens to the credit on your season ticket account if you're not renewing? When I cancelled the autorenewal it tried to get me to use it on Albion+ but didn't say what would happen to it if I didn't choose this option.

Suggest you go online in the morning and there is chat window so ask them. My gut feeling is that you'll get it back.

I think that's just a minority. Think sometime ago it was mentioned that excluding the ticket, Albion fans are some of the highest spenders on matchday on the concessions etc. El Presidente might be able to confirm.

You’ll get a refund.

No they’ve not published the information on exactly how it will work yet. Won’t be using them until middle of August so plenty of time to find out.

Reading between the lines it seems a lot of the moaning is actually about change. Change is always scary and lots of people don’t like it. There’s a whole industry of consultants and self help books about handling and dealing with change and this thread shows why. Given a while to ponder on it and with some more information from the club the vast majority will be fine with the changes.

Have a look at the change curve

The only issue I can see is longer queues. With the card you get it out of your wallet, put it on the reader, walk in and put it back in wallet. Now it's get phone out, nope doesn't recognise face, try wet thumb, nope, okay type in password, bugger my big fingers, hooray phone open, open app, find ticket, bugger another password, bloody wet fingers, bloody thick fingers, that's it, ticket ready, and I'm in.

. Unbelievable that in England some one expects to be able to use its currency. Really?

Pretty much. Can’t remember the last time I paid cash for anything, and if I was running a business the efficiency and reduced costs of going cashless would be the way I’d go.

This will be me, I will also add...remember reading glasses, find which pocket I put them in and put them on before I can see the phone screen properly.

None of this is going to go well after 5 pints.
