It's got nothing to do with populism. It might have to do with narcissism, nationalism, insularity, transphobia, anti-intellectualism (I could go on), but she's in the party of the establishment that has governed for the past 13 years and also for c70% of the past three centuries and it's somewhat difficult to mobilise a politics against the establishment from within it.She represents a particularly type of narcissistic politician that smashes everything into small pieces and picks up her own tiny fragment and thinks it's the whole.
This type of approach is generally described as populism.
