Apologies, not seen this anywhere else.
Anyone else a fan of this show?
What a wonderful refreshing programme to watch against the utter durge that's on at the moment.
I've watched this from the start and where it is based reminds me of my yoof of visiting Singleton.
Proper crafts being rejuvenated to repair memories of the past :)

Been watching for ages. Nice gentle TV with some amazing crafts people all filmed at nearby Singleton.

Absolutely fanstic viewing. The craftsmanship and repairs are very good, but to me it's the stories and people that bring the program alive. The items are normally of no monetary value so it's the emotional/sentimental side of the item's story that makes the show such a must see. Seeing what something means to someone once a item has been brought back from near ruin and the memories that are associated with that item is quite powerful story telling to me.

The issues I have with this show are, I never know how much the Repair Shop have charged the customers for the repairs, and sometimes the repairs turn the repaired item into Trigger's broom as they virtually have no original parts left.

They don't charge. I assume the producers pay the craftsmen/women a fee for their services.

Beach Hut says he’s ok, just taking a break for a while.

Back on topic, I love Repair Shop. That and Escape to the Chateau DIY are my favourite programmes.

Love Repair Shop. Perfect viewing for Lockdown. I've been inspired to try and renovate/fix/clean all my stuff that I can.

Rusty - sandpaper, WD40
Stuck - WD40
Wood - sandpaper, teak oil
Broken/Wobbly - duct tape or superglue

That's good. I thought it was just me. I think in a different life, I would have moved to France, but in this one, the Albion got there first and you can't move that far away from the ones you love.

Been watching from the outset and still don’t know what value Jay adds. The rest of them are quite impressive at their jobs.

Jay Blades is a very skilled furniture restorer, and obviously is a good TV presenter. He also has his own show called Money For Nothing. Definitely knows his trade

Or as we refer to it in our house ‘Cash for crap’. Some of the money they manage to charge people for ‘one-off art’ is shocking!

I have seen both programmes on daytime tv if I am bored . Both are viewable although I would not go out of my way to watch
I agree about the amazing prices they get for the made over rubbish . They say there's one born every minute.

It’s a shame he does no furniture restoring in the programme. He just goes around dressed for it, offering to acquire items for specialists in their craft who obviously know where to source their materials.
I have seen Money for Nothing. Now that programme IS a load of shite.

I prefer that scary looking woman who hangs around tips and accosts them whilst they go about their daily business.

'Can I have that smashed up lamp before it goes in the skip?'

World has gone mad.

Richard Osman, day time TV producer extraordinare, rates this as the very best TV programme ever.

He loves it and is a little bit jealous he didn't come up with the idea.

Edit - That and Taskmaster.

Like his "House of Games Show" with the very impressive prizes and the huge (plastic) silver trophy for weekly champion. A good fun quiz.

I really don't get all " Escape to the Chateau" at all, how Strawbridge has managed to get TV to effectively fund his new life post- divorce is an astounding bit of business. No mention of his previous family, especially the TV series with the son with which he sailed around the UK with and made stopovers in little ports to complete nearby meaningless " Challenges"?

Now he's in France now having fled the divorce lawyers and Family #1 have been conveniently forgotten as he ploughs on with the restoration of his house and his reputation. Sadly, the " Challenges" still exist as Dick races against the clock and the triffid like growth of the thicket on his top lip to repair broken cupboards, water wheels, looms and antique tractors..

Inevitably Dick will invite the local Farmers/ex Pats or the D'oyly Carte Opera Company for the grand re launch of something he hasn't fixed yet, in order to ramp up nonexistent tension and try to keep viewers awake. Everything usually slots in to place and disaster is avoided until the next upcoming challenge / disaster.

Years back my house backed on to a house that hosted the Changing Rooms team or similar. Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen got to do the inside and some Oirish bloke called Dermot got the back garden... It was billed as a surprise makeover for the owners wife's 60 th birthday or something.... On TV it appeared to be done in a long weekend, in practice, they were filming on and off for close to 10 days. The Gardening " Team" were incredibly lethargic and seem to have spent hours without making any discernable change, the two "Stars" would be parachuted in to film for an hour or two every 2-3 days then would sweep out again leaving a team of 15 odd with clipboards clustering together trying to figure out how interpret in reality the new directives issued by the designers.

I can fully imagine a cluster of actual expert Doozers off camera doing face palms as Dick says " Why don't we rebuild this 18th century steam traction engine and enter the local Ploughing Tournament in three weeks time?"
