No mention of the Spoons Opera House in Tunbridge Wells. When I've been there it seems to be populated by people who make this 80 year old seem young.
That's more because it's Tunbridge Wells rather than Spoons though, surely?

Wetherspoons beer is alright I'd say. Decent pubs in Bristol. Much better than a lot of other chains, especially for cask.
The cheapest. But not the best value. Most of the time you have to sit in a shithole surrounded by alcoholics.

The best value crown goes to Craft Union pubs, good prices and good atmospheres on the whole, bringing back community locals on a weekly basis. Just how pubs should be, and one of the only brands making money at the moment.
You're still working for Stonegate. The brand might make money but no landlords will be retiring early with their prices.

I think it's great that there is a choice, from a pint of chocolate and honey infused Badgers Nadgers in a converted warehouse with Khruangbin piped through KEF gear or a decent value pie and a pint for people not quite so much up their own backside.
Pint? No self-respecting craft beer bar serves pints….I’d have walked out.

No Craft Union publican works for Stonegate. They all run their own Ltd companies.

Newcastle away a year or two ago me and my cohorts were DELIGHTED to spot a very nice Spoons opposite the station the morning after the game, just before hitting the road for the journey back. I can't fault their full-english, and it really hit the spot following a long night out on the grog. I wasn't driving, so indulged in some hairy dog as well. Cheap as.

Snobs can do one.
Newcastle last year up there for the game myself and my lad did a Spoons Pub crawl around Newcastle.
Strangely enough the further out of the city centre you got the beer got more expensive.

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
All I can say is there must be a difference between north and south 'Spoons judging by the comments from some on here re the southern ones.
Whilst of course there are some I wouldn't choose as my local, the vast majority up these parts are nice pubs, nothing wrong with the clientele cleanliness or decor. Some spectacular buildings and good quality cheap ale (even for the north).

The Marina Spoons is easily the best one in Brighton, get a table outside overlooking the boats and it's a great spot
Just never leave your food unguarded for a second...

As I have mentioned at least 5 times on NSC in the past, Me and my pal Bob the (then, not yet retired) social worker were 'offered outside 'three times by different bell ends during the 30 minutes we took to sip our gassy and disappointing beers on the only occasion we ventured to the 'Leading Light' (Spoon) in town.

I'd rather flop my John Thomas into the open palm of a lunatic with a carving knife in his other hand than venture back to Faversham spoons.
You only found three people who thought you were an arsehole and offered you outside. Reading some of your posts I'd say that was a result.

Wetherspoons does serve a purpose.

15 or so years ago I was absolutely broke and lived directly opposite one in London (bedroom view) along with 7 Africans and no kitchen other than a microwave.

I could eat in Wetherspoons for less than a microwave meal. Monday - Burger and a pint for 3.99, Steak on a Tuesday for 4.99, Curry club on Thursday.. It was honestly a life saver. I’d go at least 4 nights a week.

By far the worst pub I have ever been in is the Spoons in Kingston Upon Thames. not the worst Spoons. The worst pub. Absolute grief hole.

In fact K-U-Thames, despite being a quite nice town, is one of the worst night’s out. Pubs are shite. Really shite.

First time I experienced a metal detector on a nightclub entrance there….
