Fair play to the posties, they have familys too and don't obviously get paid for striking. There is also the threat of 40,000 jobs to go:nono:

Can the queen ask for her crest to be removed, as they are now looking rather shambolic. How many different things can you find to strike over in a year?

Fuckers will be striking 'coz they've run out of teabags soon!!

GET TO WORK YOU LAZY BASTARDS, OR LEAVE THE f***ing RANSOM HOLDING UNION!

The posties are trying to keep hold of a final salary pension scheme, which is something virtually noone has anymore. The CWU appears to still believe that they are still working in a public company. All that is going to happen is that the RM will lose more business and so have to lose more jobs.

It is still a public company owned by the government, please read:

Why shouldn't I keep the final salary scheme I have been paying into since I was eighteen? It is piss poor management by previous directors and Leighton and Croziers lack of a challenge to unfair postal regulation that is causing problems in Royal Mail.

Nobody has obviously ever made you redundant ? At least with the Postal system there are alternatives which is not true of people in transportation. Not just trains and tubes but what about air traffic controllers who strike during the holiday season ?

Only the 3 times ....

No actually we are striking to save our pensions and to save the Post Office from being destroyed by Leighton and Crozier with a little help from the government.

I was made redundant about 4 years ago after, I might add, working very hard on the project that ultimately caused my redundancy.

Then your attitude rather surprises me. Had you known that taking industrial action might have help you keep your job I cannot believe you wouldn't have done so.

But weren't you striking about losing overtime, or some other daft reason, during the summer?

Ever other company (bar the NHS I think) is losing it's Final Salary pension. Get over it, and whilst getting over it could you possibly deliver some mail. The fresh morning air might help you clear your mind.

Have you any idea what a Postman's basic weekly wage is ? Could you live on it ? I wonder what you do for a living ?

It's probably in the same region as a milkman's. Something my father has done for the past 29 years. The last time the union (think it was TGWU at the time) threatened strike action they lost in the region of 75% of milkman, as they couldn't afford to strike. Obviously for posties to have a week off they must be considerably richer than milkman.

Why? There were sound business reasons behind the decisions taken that caused the redundancy, and not belonging to a union, I doubt I could have done anything about it anyway. Instead of bleating about it, I got off my arse and found myself another job pdq. I'm not saying that's appropriate for everybody, but in the circumstances I found myself in, that was my opinion.

The service has been total dogshit recently, they've lost 2 packages for me in the last month and there's seeming nothing I can do about it. Also, my postman never leaves cards when there's been no one in to take a delivery.

It's not about money, we were offered 2.5% back in March, if our office is anything to go by that would have been accepted 100%.
Unfortunately it's the 21 caviates (sp) that were (and still are) attached that are the issue.
There are 4-5 threads on here where a few of us go into further detail, but the upshot is basically we enjoy being postmen & our job is being raped so that within 2 years it can be sold to TNT (as that's what our new uniforms will look like) as a profitable buisness.

That last sentence makes my point. face a fact, with all due respect to them people who become postal workers do so as they don't have a lot of options hence have far more difficulty finding a job than many.

Stat - what do you think about there being no early post? I don't get mine before 1 on a good day!
