Kind of. Mostly. I agree. I've actually been critical of my own entry with afterthought on another thread.

That said, there is nowt wrong in being critical of political approaches.

My original, and brief anger, was that a party, and media, that so aggressively attacked and vilified socialist ideals should suddenly see it as the way forward. But I'm pleased they have.

I fully support the government's approach, whilst slightly smarting that had the opposition been in power then it may not have been as well received in some quarters.

Anyway. Moving on.

Was good to see Andy Burnham, who was the labour health minister in the swine flu pandemic, giving his advice to Matt Hancock last night in question time.

Matt Hancock looked genuinely interested in what he had to say, no bitching with each other just mutual concern about what’s best for the uk in these challenging times.

Was good to see Andy Burnham, who was the labour health minister in the swine flu pandemic, giving his advice to Matt Hancock last night in question time.

Matt Hancock looked genuinely interested in what he had to say, no bitching with each other just mutual concern about what’s best for the uk in these challenging times.

I watched that and as Burnham has experience he is exactly the type of person the Government needs and you could literally see Hancock taking it in.

Political differences were clearly put aside and as we said Hancock was genuinely interested in what he had to say.

Burnham is a truly decent bloke, he unintentionally comes out of this smelling of roses, with no petty party politics. Sadiq Khan has also been very mature and a team player. Even Sturgeon the same.

I think they’re all working closely with the government on literally saving lives and livelihoods. Class war saved for another time.

In the interest of balance, as a so-called lefty, I have been impressed with Rishi Sunak. As posted elsewhere, he doesn't need to work, he's prepared to take a job where Dominic Cummings could make him look a tit, and he is clearly there for the public good.

Boris seems largely content to let talented people get on with it, under Cumming's direction, which may actually be one of the smartest things he's ever done.

I still worry about the chief medic (as noted elsewhere) but he is smart enough to wind his neck in, I suspect.

Overall, I like the pragmatic approach that has been taken, and am encouraged by the steps that are being taken to protect different sectors of the vulnerable.

Don't get me wrong, I have a well-established disdain for Boris in particular, and the right wing agenda (removing the opportunities that rescued me from a future of working class drudgery) in general, but credit where it is due.

Meanwhile labour trudge on, manfully, towards a glorious leadership election. I actually posted way back when, WTF - what would labour do if there were a sudden national crisis? The answer is clear. Nothing. You can't **** about like this

So I will still never vote for the crafter buggers, but hats off to some of the tories.

Paradoxically I think that Boris' lack of concern about anything, and lack of focus, coupled with his willingness to delegate to others with skills but no responsibilty, rather than sit on the pot, straining till he's red in the face, is what we need right now.

Chancellor has been very impressive as have the medical experts very clear concise and reassuring. Not a fan of Boris but seems he has learnt in this situation the less from him and more from others is the right answer
