Just watched the video. The very definition of Police brutality that. A proper kick and stamp to the head whilst the bloke wasn't even struggling on the floor

On the other hand, I'd like to see the full video. I can't imagine the preamble to this was the guy asking if anyone knew the way to Terminal 2

If your at the Airport, and a policeman tells you to get down, then you get down! If you fail to do so on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time of being asked, then expect to be taken down by as much force as necessary.

The police are here to protect and serve the general public. If they suspect even the slightest chance of a serious situation occurring, then I want a strong response… specially at an airport.

Closer to home. Last week, a bloke on a moped with “L plates“ decided it was acceptable to weave in and out of traffic at a junction.
He very nearly took out a chap with his dog and would have probably of killed or seriously injured them.


Why the f**k are we putting up with this sort of behaviour from the public… and why are the police so weak?

I’ll tell you why. It’s because every-time some incident occurs and the police attend, they have cameras thrust in their faces.

Every move is scrutinised, monitored and analysed…. by the “know all” public, media and the top brass in the police organisation who appear to be more concerned about career progress / stats then affirming some hard line policing.

Personally, I think phones/video evidence should be confiscated at the time or it to be a crime to release footage before informing the police… until ALL the facts are known.

Without a strong police and justice system we’re all be screwed, and I think people should remember this.

What a weird post: I can’t tell if its boot licking tone is parody or not. Your attempt to link a video of an assault by a police officer to some bad moped riding, and use those incidents as a justification to strip the population’s civil rights is laughable.

What you saw in the video from Manchester airport was a public employee acting in a completely unhinged (and possibly racist) way. There is no justification for a copper to do that with a prone detainee, and he should be investigated and strongly disciplined/let go. He is lucky that his victim isn’t dead - I haven’t heard about his injuries. Whether there were incidents that lead up to what we saw is irrelevant: police are expected to be professional in stressful situations - they are there to serve the public, not the other way round.

Still, it sounds like you would meekly support the Gestapo, so you do you.

Quite the opposite by all accounts. But the point remains regardless. All reasonable force should be used in an arrest. Not thuggery.

But that copper’s red mist was literally a big step too far. The two track processes now takes time, whether impatient instant everything folk like it or not. Then I expect he’ll be sacked and face a criminal trial.

No excuse, but to mention that continental police routinely violently beat people opposing them, with no qualms about opponents/press filming it. I’ve seen it in Spain, friends have in Italy, in France it’s plastered over youtube. All non-football related.

What a crazy mixed up world. Only a couple of weeks ago I was told in a pub that Manchester Police were a bunch of lefties after they didn't pursue Angela Rayner. Now it seems they are rascists as well.

I think this is appalling and totally unacceptable. However If the police story is to believed these individuals were kicking off in the Airport and a female officer had her nose broken. If this is the case I am not going to waste any of my sympathy on the victim on the floor or the suspended officer.

Reasonable and pertinent use of force by a police officer? Doesn't appear so.

However, this is at an airport where everyone knows there are armed police present because of terrorist threat.

Kicking off with other members of the public (allegedly) then resisting arrest when airport police arrive on the scene (allegedly) and injuring police officers by assaulting them (allegedly) - bit foolhardy and if police read the threat in an airport wrongly (yes because of racial stereotyping perhaps) could lead to deadly force being used on you (....just like the Yanks do at the drop of a hat).

Limited sympathy then from me towards the member of the public.... but as per first sentence - Reasonable and pertinent use of force by a police officer? Doesn't appear so.

If a football fan kicked someone in the head and stamped on them when down after a game then NSC and the press in general would be rightly condemning them.

But hey, this was a brown guy at an airport so…..

If a football fan did this they'd get a lifetime match ban and a 5 year custodial sentence. But then the police and football fans are very different groups so get judged differently. One is made up of racist, homophobic, xenophobic, violent thugs and the other are football fans.

Not condoning the assault on the guy on the ground ..but how about some emphasis on the police officers attacked one of which has a broken nose ..one small clip from an incident that involved members of the public causing well it’s an understatement to say an affray …and yet the headline writers can’t be arsed to say much about that or the masked protest outside Rochdale police station last night with the usual inflammatory chants ..still that’s Rochdale and we know who they voted in as an MP in a recent by election

I was aware that the individual involved here had a run-in with other Police Officers and had injured one, if not more.
and I have no problem with a robust response.
but as you I think elsewhere pointed out, kicking someone in the face and stamping on their head when they are already on the ground and well on the way to being restrained is just sick. I was going to say unacceptable, but that’s far too bland a word.
I have a great respect for the police and what they (normally) do. This incident is horrible.

Of course it is possible to be absolutely disgusted by the police officer’s actions, AND yet have limited sympathy for the victim.

Whatever the provocation, the police simply HAVE to be better. The should rightly be held to higher standards.

My guess is that the "victim" is the one who broke the Policewoman's nose and that her colleague was exacting retribution on her behalf. Completely and utterly wrong for a trained firearms officer to lose control and act in this manner, but something obviously triggered it.
