Not to mention FAILING to even get a shot on goal in some matches of late as well, you're never going to achieve much without even shooting and the manager appears not to notice this?...
The key words being "of late". Over the course of the season, I doubt we look any worse than our league position suggests. Barnsley and Peterborough are both having decent seasons, both looked neat and tidy at the Amex, yet probably mustered 2 shots on target between them.

4 points off the plays offs and 11 off the relegation zone. Closer inspection shows we could be 20th quite easily in a few weeks. Its a good job we amased 16 points from the first 6 games as the last 17 games, we are relegation candidates with the most impotent strikeforce in the division.

The key words being "of late".

It wouldn't be difficult to argue that 'of late' stretches back to probably the Ipswich game at the beginning of October meaning:

c2 months of some decent attacking football, and
c3 months of dross since.

We won 3 straight before this last run. Personally I think we're going to finish mid-table ish, and this is not entirely the manager's fault. He hasn't had nearly the luck he had with injuries last season, for example.

My BEEF with Poyet is not the quality of player he has attracted, nor what comes out of his mouth (the media will always twist things, fans will read things into the tiniest sentence taken out of context), it is the constant shoulder shrugging and woe-is-me bullshit that he uses to excuse our appalling disciplinary record. Not good enough!

Yeah and since them three scrappy wins, we have lost another three on the trot. We don't create nothing, the football is predictable and dull, 70% possession does not mean f*** all, if its all across the back line....If we keep this up, we wont sell 18,000 season tickets next year, more like 12,000 and that will not impress Mr Bloom at all.

100% this, I have said somewhere before, if we don't get something on Saturday. We better stop looking upwards and start looking over our shoulders.

We need 18 points in 23 games to be almost sure of staying up. I can't really imagine we'll get fewer than 18 points to be honest, especially if Hoskins, Buckley and Vicente are actually fit in the second half of the season.

I know Ipswich was probably the first game we didn't look like scoring (beyond the amazing effort from Vicente) but you can't tell me we haven't had a shot on goal in every game since then!

Of course I'm not saying that, but I think you can pretty much draw a line through our fixture list at that point with the football in the 'before' section being somewhat different to the football in the 'after' section to date.

And, just to be clear, I'm not saying that there has been 3 months of dross, but I do think that some could argue that and have a bundle of stats to provide some backup.

This division is ridiculously competitive - it always has been and it seems since our confidence was knocked in the Liverpool, Leeds and Palace sequence and we lost the momentum we carried through from last season, we have really struggled to regain our mojo. We often look pedestrian, nervous and scared of making mistakes. And playing like that in this league will see you punished.

Is this some Ernestesque wind up?if it is you haven't got half his Witt or charm.
You are quite literally talking out of your fartpipe .
It's also a bloody good job we amassed 90 odd points last season or we would've been right in the shit, also it's a bloody good job my uncles got a cock or he'd be my Auntie.
There really is some f***ing Divs that post shit on here.

i agree with Thunder Bolt, he is talking sense here. As mentioned before what is it with Getting on Gus's back, so we are not doing as well as Southampton, but how many of us would have given to finish mid table when we went up?

Stop bitching and f***ing moaning, get back on the Gus bus, and support the team...
definitely this   :albion2:

Wrexham key game in my mind.

Lose and neagativity increases , confidence and likely to slip into bottom half

Win and 4th round of cup so suddenly on cup run , confidence and upper table

We have our part to play

Regarding the transfer window , lets just see. Poyet moaned in the summer before spunking millions. No fears

and sadly, some of this. But it's alowed, people ffs. We're learning and this is the championship, not Championship Manager and teams lose games and form and have injuries. Nothing wrong with healthy debate but we have no divine right to be in this division, let alone to be challenging for promotion. Let's keep giving our team what we did in the Burnley game and maybe even stop and enjoy where we are and how far we've come for a minute. You never know, we might enjoy the rest of the season? ??? :goal: :albion2:

Too far from the sun
Gus is NOT a proven championship manager. He's only being doing the job a few years and is still learning, albeit quickly. Most of our matchday squad were L1 players last season and most of them are learning the new trciks too. He's signed some quality players and been unlucky with their fitness, especially Hoskins who has no 'sick note' record. He got us into this division at an absolute canter playing attractive football, even though our expectations were play-offs at best. We started in good form - OK helped by the new ground and the fixture list - but who would have imagined that we would have been on top for a while.

OK, so we hit some bad form, started by the ridiculous Liverpool/Leeds and Palace congestion. Our disciplinary record is probably due to the frustration felt by the players at not getting the results THEY expect. But, how many of you would be moaning now if we had started off poorly and then had a run to take us to exactly where we are now? That is 3 points behind the play-offs yet some of the comments on this thread are only a step away from calling for Poyet's head. Get a reality check FFS

Not every. But quite a few: Hull, Watford, Southampton, B'ham... and of the others, there were several where we had barely any on target efforts. Face it. Brighton are a very dull team to watch and have been for the now, majority, of the season.

Worrying Stats

Stop getting so angry. Pointing out something's less than desirable and/or reality isn't necessarily "moaning". It's factual. And given this is a discussion board, that's the point isn't it? If you're unable to express disagreement about our worrying form that's no longer just "of late" without getting so precious you need to check-out before you have a heart-attack! We hit bad form a considerable period of time ago and there haven't been any notable highlights since. The win's we've had have been by a thread.
