Plus it is obvious that the Australians have got their training wrong, they are not peaking now, when they need to.

I thought this as well. I've often wondered if they have too much domestic focus and people are trying to peak for their nationals (which i think are way back in Feb). Perhaps they don't have the security of selection that GB have?

Similarly, their road champs are in Jan and the winner often burns out by May (admittedly snagging Milan San Remo prior to that is good going!)

I also think they got some selections wrong.

Richie Porte should have been in the time trial before Evans and the road team should have gone for riders with fresher legs.

All that I stopped riding, let Pendleton win stuff in the heats was obviously nonsense. The GB cycling teams and individuals have all gone out and set world records or won their heats. You lay down a marker, show that you have the form. You do not let your main rival cruise by you. Plus it is obvious that the Australians have got their training wrong, they are not peaking now, when they need to.

Australian Men's Team Pursuit:
Melbourne: 3:53.401
London: 3:54.581

Men's Team Sprint:
Melbourne: 43.266
London: 43.355

Women's Team Sprint:
Melbourne: 32.597
London: 32.727

So that is three finals all with worse times than they set 4 months ago. I know the sprint differences appear miniscule but if I could be bothered to do the same for GB I'm sure you would see the reverse trend by some margin.
You would have thought I'd learned and learned to believe, by now.
This team and programme is so unbelievably good.
If you think about it, it seems as if the standard to be in the team has gone beyond medalling, you won't make the team if you don't break a World Record.

We've had the v/dome warm up event, The Worlds and now The Olympics, and there will be gains right the way through.
At no point have the team, so far at least, seemed to have peeked, until now.

It's a shame I'm now not allowed to mention other sports, as I'll get called names by the big boys!!

It will be interesting to see how we get on in the events we weren't so good at in Bejing.

With the programme changes there aren't really many of these. The omniums are a bit of a lottery but we have Trott (world champion) and Clancy (former world champion). The loss of pursuits, points and maisonette has robbed us of 2 golds from Beijing but we've gained women's team sprint, keirin and team pursuit (2 golds, maybe should have been 3).

Bit of a 'quiet' day in the velodrome, today.

Just the ladies pursuit to really focus on.

Quiet in the medal sense, not the physical.

Very jealous of you HHI, I'm still reeling from missing out yesterday

Ed in the points race towards his omnium should be a good one.

Olympic park fantastic had a great time and saw into main stadium from the orbit.

So so busy and the noise is so loud from every arena.

Ed Clancy has just put in a massive 4k got within .179 seconds on Hanson the Danish youngster. Gold may come down to these two in the omnium and that .179 could play a factor. Boardman saying may come down to last scratch race. Poor o Mullet man, has to re due his 4k due to a punter, we had what appeared to be his very raucous, beer swilling family a few rows behind us yesterday.

Cannot even begin to describe yesterday in the Olympic Park, in the velodrome its was beyond words. One thing I loved in the velodrome was the mixture of nationalities in the stands, we are so used to just British cycling buffs, great to have other nations buffs as well.

If you can make the Olympic Park do it, its amazing.
