She may be disqualified.

Did anybody else listen to the radio commentary?

Horrible, to hear the crowd roar and the commentator describing her celebrating whilst the experts were saying she was probably going to get disqualified as she went into the sprinting lane...... whatever that is.

Fantastic effort from Pendleton, glad to see her get one after last night's disappointment.

Just watched the replay. Mears is in trouble, Pendleton just followed her without putting in any real effort and rode over her the moment she wanted to. Guo Shuang looks the only real challenger for gold, though Krupeckaite looked strong despite getting completely boxed in. My prediction:

1. Pendleton
2. Shuang
3. Krupeckaite

Great prediction with the first two, surprised Mears looked so flat. Can't understand what has happened to the Australians this year, it used to be so close

So what happened with that?

I got out my car after listening to it on radio 5 and posted 'she may be disqualified' with my phone as that was the impression the experts were giving. The judges were looking at pictures of her going into the sprint lane?! Horrible moment hearing everybody cheering and thinking she was going to lose the gold. When I got home I asked my other half about it and she told me she had already been presented with the Gold....it was probably hushed up

Reports are that 2 Olympic judges from the Velodrome are in hospital, recovering from concussion. No one knows what happened.

But Shane Sutton was seen rubbing his knuckles.

If you're inside the red line (sprinters lane) in the last 200m,you can't move outside it as this would impede the other riders. She came about a cm outside it once she was into the finishing straight so thankfully commonsense prevailed.

The rule should be that if you go outside the line AND impede someone else, you can be penalised. If you were nowhere near anyone and disqualified for impeding someone it would be daft.

Good spot on Mears, I am shocked she was not in that

All that I stopped riding, let Pendleton win stuff in the heats was obviously nonsense. The GB cycling teams and individuals have all gone out and set world records or won their heats. You lay down a marker, show that you have the form. You do not let your main rival cruise by you. Plus it is obvious that the Australians have got their training wrong, they are not peaking now, when they need to.

Australian Men's Team Pursuit:
Melbourne: 3:53.401
London: 3:54.581

Men's Team Sprint:
Melbourne: 43.266
London: 43.355

Women's Team Sprint:
Melbourne: 32.597
London: 32.727

So that is three finals all with worse times than they set 4 months ago. I know the sprint differences appear miniscule but if I could be bothered to do the same for GB I'm sure you would see the reverse trend by some margin.

In practice that's what they usually say but the Commissaires have been particularly fastidious so far!

That's probably not such a bad thing though.

Given the dramas other sports have experienced with officials thus far it's good the cycling Commissaries are trying to rule their sport as it is written in the rules book (at present).

Lets the riders know it's a black and white ruling, no grey.
