It was a down hill finish and the climbs didn't offer enough opportunities to break Froome because of that. Moviestar didn't just have to break Froome though, there were still other riders there who'd covered their moves.

To break Froome with team tactics they'll need to hit him on a mountain top stage attack after attack after attack.

Belgian (flemish) TV commentator Michel Wuyts did a Clare Balding/Liam Treadwell job on Daniel Martin when he won his stage yesterday, saying that he could now afford to get his teeth done. I can't stand the bloke so I hope Dan has a suitable word with him!

This is why I love cycling and especially mountains.
Don't know of any other apart from may be marathans, rowing where competitors get physically broken.

I can't see Froome cracking at the moment. I suppose the other way to do it is try to breakaway from the start or just keep having a go like the colombian rider did until he finally cracks. By the way that colombian rider is brilliant.

Froome was being hit with 1-1 not 1-2.

Contador is a busted flush he's out of the equation, but Movistar should be ashamed of themselves.

They aren't going to be able to get at CF like that again, and they blew it/couldn't do it.
So much for teamwork.
If Quintana Valverde and Costa had repeatedly hit CF, he would have cracked.
But in doing so only 1 Movistar rider would have eventually got away benefited to the point of possibly winning out right.

People moan about the Sky collective, but clearly it's not as easy as they make it out to be.
No MS rider was prepared to properly sacrifice themselves for the greater good, and because of that they will get turned over by Team Sky.

I'd have to agree. Froome must have been laughing his socks off last night. On his own for 3/4 of the race, and no one could touch him. 2 or 3 teams vs him on his own and he didn't lose any time. No wonder he's looked so chirpy on his rest day photo's all day!

What a massive opportunity missed, I can only see Froome gaining more time on Wednesday and the rest of his team getting their legs back and re-evaluating their tactics. They'll feel like they've dodged a bullet.

As always OGE are stuffing around with something during races. Highlight is Eddie Merckx rocking it on a blown up plastic guitar.

Superb video, already had the big thumbsup over on the Geeks thread. Glad to see the pro's enjoy themselves so much, and a team that obviously has a fantastic spirit throughout.

Today's break is away five of them including a Cofidis rider again (they have finally woken up).

Jerome Cousin (Team Europcar), Juan Jose Oroz (Euskaltel), Luis Mate (Cofidis), Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil) and Julien Simon (Sojasun) 4:20 ahead.

Not sure why Sky are even bothering to ride on the front and control this, best placed rider is Oroz over an hour back.

Slow-motion makes it look a lot worse, but if anyone is at fault it's Cav. However, it's just one of those things. His line certainly wasn't as bad as EBH's before the mountains.

Why didn't he go with Stegman's, I know Stat said he was going like a train, but Cav was freewheeling when Stegmans went, I think he just made the wrong call...the shoulder to shoulder was in frustration that even at that point he knew it was gone as he had the wrong wheel once Veeler's slowed.
