There is no way that whoever takes on that contract will get rid of the RS's, infact I'd say that your job is probably one of the safest within the whole brand!
Mine is a 10, infact its just been made even more safe recently.
Its wether I want to still be there, which I'd rate at a 1!!
On the other hand, long-term employees tend to have higher wages, and represent more of a departmental saving ("creative accounting" - redundancy payments come out of a different budget). Our IT department has a very high average age, and it would be a big risk if they let all the new blood go first. My role is a bit specialised, and is likely to disappear in the next six months. If my role is redundant, I expect to go.
Some days I think 5 some days 9, problem is me and my team are transaction processors, and prime targets for offshoring...
I'm amazed that so many of you think you are bulletproof.
I'd say 4-5 for me, and I have 23 years experience in a very specialist and well rewarded field. I have little faith that any job loss programme would necessarily be rational and reflect the value of the work I do.

Ain't that the truth! In April we paid off people that were about to retire anyway - one woman got two years salary as redundancy, even though everyone knew she was going to retire in June.

I dodged the bullet today, but a chap I've worked with for nearly 4 years (a Brentford STH) copped it. He's more than a colleague, he was a genuine mate, and the relief I feel at still being in a job is almost overwhlemed at him losing his. I am so gutted for him its untrue. One of four was going today, and we were all called in one by one to hear the news.
Officially the WORST day I have ever had at work. But at least I'm still in a job.

We're down to the bones now. Any more cuts in my area, and we will cease to function as a business. I've taken a look in the market and I am still employable, but generally kicking off on around £10k less than I'm on now. Which is rather sobering.

Difficult to say as I am self-employed. I have enough work to get by in the meantime, but who knows? Recovery is predicted to be late 2009 at the very earliest so I may have to shape up and sell my body.
