I work at A&L head office - BBC NEWS | Business | Santander to shed 1,900 UK jobs

Twenty years service should mean a pay-off that gets me started in self-employment.

I would think that Santander would look at employees with the least amount of service first where jobs are duplicated between Abbey/A&L/B&B so they pay out the smallest redundancy packages possible. BT have announced 6000 job cuts , so far they have started culling the agency staff and contractors but those employees with over 20 years service aren't being let go and if their role disappears rather than let them take redundancy they are being placed in a reserve pool until a vacancy occurs.


BTW my own rating would be 10.
