Apologies for bouncing old thread but... a new Uncle Sams is shortly to open in Furnace Green, Crawley, and is currently advertising for staff.

Tremendous to see the doyen of hamburger chains seemingly expanding again

I'm guessing near the Charcoal Burner. Is that still open?

I worked in Uncle Sam's in 1988/89. Amazed it seems to be thriving.
I always thought its home made chilli sauce was , and still is, the best burger chilli sauce i've ever had. Wonder if they still use the same recipe. Is it still up to scratch @Tom Hark Preston Park ?
Being a frequent Uncle Sams visitor to both Burgess Hill and Carden Avenue branches, I can whole-heartedly vouch for the chilli sauce. Bloomin beautiful it is. As it always was. I believe they'll even sell you a tub of it nowadays

I’ve actually met the owner/founder of Uncle Sam’s, he opened the first outlet in Montpelier Road, obviously they are franchises now but really nice guy, had my first ever cheeseburger in 1986 from Montpelier Road

people forget that until the late 80s/early 90s the number of McDonalds/Burger Kings etc in the UK were very limited. Grubbs and Uncle Sams in the mid to late 80s were your burger choices In Brighton. I used to go Wimpys in the 70s in East Street as a teenager for a treat. There wasn't anywhere else.
