Consistently the best. Amazing how they’ve maintained standards (and distinctively taste) after SO long. Every time I have my double chili cheeseburger it’s like a taste of my childhood.

Give me Uncle Sam’s over any other burger, chain or otherwise.

Sodexho would manage to f*** it up, the burgers would be either cold or cooked to a crisp, the buns likewise, and they’d end up costing twice what they normally cost.
Shame really, because it’s would an excellent idea if it wasn’t for them.

I've known one of the brothers for many years. I'll forward this to him. A brilliant idea. I would start eating burgers at the Amex if they were Uncles Sams!!

I’ve actually met the owner/founder of Uncle Sam’s, he opened the first outlet in Montpelier Road, obviously they are franchises now but really nice guy, had my first ever cheeseburger in 1986 from Montpelier Road

I'm sure it opened 10 years before that. We'd go on a family bus trip from Shoreham just to have Uncle Sam's and maybe even a Davils 32 flavours.

Uncle sams started in montpelier road in 1971....(so says a franchise invitation document I read recently)

I recall samsons in st george's road brighton/kemptown from late 70s.

And this thread has prompted me to suggest to the family we all have an uncle sams tonight! We are all vegetarian now but i really enjoy their veggie and bean burgers! Oh and mozzarella sticks

I used to go to the montpellier one in the early eighties. Used to normally stop in the oriental next door for a quick beer. I did get a bit of a surprise one night when it changed its clientele...
Then the shoreham one opened and every single Friday my family had US takeaway and all sat down at home chatting with friends before heading to the pub.
My missus has always gone for the allstar but I cannot get past the bacon cheese, it is so good I don't want to f*** up and get something else!
The only down side to US is a) the chips, if you have no salt they are shit. B) the coke is dreadful cheap crap, always go for a shake which are good.

Sounds like it would be run by the people who run the Broadwater and Durrington franchises. I love a double chilli burger,, no lettuce, two lots of bacon and a portion of onion rings from the one in Burgess Hill but my nearest branches have been poor for too long.
