Verdicts on the Arcade Fire album?
First impressions for me are positive. I thought they'd gone down a law of diminishing returns, cul de sac with The Suburbs. The new one has a variety of different moods but the band I keep thinking of is Talking Heads. I think in time it will be my second favourite behind Funeral.
I see the press has been a little lukewarm (http://www.metacritic.com/music/reflektor/arcade-fire), I suspect this is because it was emabargoed until the last minute and some mags wrote reviews from 1 listen (such as Drowned in Sound), this is definitely a grower.
EDIT: Here's a stream - http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/stream-arcade-fires-reflektor-20131024.
Ill have the vinyl in my hands tomorrow so ill let you know.

It has some excellent reviews- this is a band that have been sorely overlooked and should be far better known. They began as Mclusky and released three albums and this their fourth as FOTL. If you like your music loud, fast and with humour then I strongly recommend.

I've finally got round to listening to the new Arctic Monkeys record as well (I'd put it off as the 2 before this had bored the pants off me), it's remarkably good. Unmistakably them but totally different to what they've done before.
Right, culture time. If you're into your performance dance, there's a night at the Dome next Friday with an evening of dance perfromed to a FOTL soundtrack.
It's brilliant. I seem to be in a minority in thinking that their last album was their best but truthfully all four are great. Add in Falko's work with McClusky and that's 7 albums in a row and no sign of a dip in quality.
He's fast becoming this generation's Mark E Smith. They deserve so much more love from the public at large than they get, it's almost inexplicable to me. I think if they were American they'd get a far better deal, anyone that likes Patton era Faith No More should get a lot from this record.

Blimey! Not sure what I would make of that. Will have to investigate.
Furthering the Mark E Smith comparison, I suprise myself sometimes.
Possibly the last ever album from Motorhead, Aftershock, not too shabby at all.
