What do people think of Muslims at present ?

Personally I have nothing against them but believe now there needs to be integration which must be prompted by Muslims and better understanding.

The way forward to stop these terrorist attacks is for people in power to understand why these people are so exteme in their views.

What has caused this ?

Maybe I have missed the point but I personally do not believe society persecuting Muslims from now on will prevent these recent events.

Same as me, but that applies to all religions, and not just Islam.

You can't blame the majority of muslims for what happened but muslims have got to start looking at ways to deal with extremism within their faith as much as we have to look at ways to integrate them more into 'British' life.

Bombings aside, I just think it's a shit religion. Then again, religion of all sorts are to blame for a lot of conflicts.

f***, I'll probably have one of those fatwa's put on me now!

I think we British also need to look at the BNP as well and try and eradicate this type of obscene political rubbish.

You cant blame this on the BNP, its not their fault. And the "obscene political rubbish" bit is only your opinion not a nationwide feeling.

And no, I didnt vote BNP, I voted UKIP.

Which Muslims? Shia, Sunni or Shi'ites?
They don't agree with each other.

Obviously I hope they got get any persecution for what happened.
I do hope the silent majority of Muslims do start denouncing the violence.

But it is obscene surely.

How can the majority of people accept that opinion in a multi-cultural society.

I am not blaming the BNP for this but very concerned about the political gain they will try and make.

I don't think factions within a religion really concern the majority of people nor would they understand it.

This really does worry me and I hope this type of thing does not suddenly become the norm.

I can understand your views BH, but being devils advocate here I dont think you can label them obscene, that is after all a matter of opinion. Also about the political gain point, if they had their way though dont you think there would be less chance of this kind of thing happening? Personally I think their policies are unworkable (for want of a better word) but I can sort of see their point without totally agreeing with it.

Just as many factions within Christianity of course.

The views of the new pope

Homosexuality

“Intrinsic moral evil”

Rock music

“Vehicle of anti-religion”

Secularism

“We are in a very grave moment; radical secularism may destroy humanism”

The ban on women priests

“Necessary in order to protect true doctrine, to safeguard the communion and unity of the Church and to guide consciences of the faithful”

Multiculturalism

“Fleeing from what is one’s own”

Anglicanism and Protestantism

“Not proper churches”

Mass in languages other than Latin

“A tragic breach”

Turkey joining the EU

“An enormous mistake”

Fair comment but I don't agree with it.

The British nation offered foreign communities immigration to our country many years ago so therefore we must accept these people.

Since we've lorded it over the rest of the planet for decades I can't really accept the argument that we should allow immigration.

People have very short memories. In 1999 there was a very white and English bomber letting off his nail laden devices in London.

The animal rights people have some nasty ways of terrorising people with parcel bombs too.

Nothing will stop these people IMHO. Just look at recent history. Under Clinton, the US stepped in to save the eradication of Muslims in Bosnia, Kosovo, and tried to get a peace deal in Palestine (in which the Palestinians would have got 98% of what they wanted if it wasn't for Arafat). And they still blew up US interests around the world.

After the Russians left Afganistan, they simply had no one to kill so felt they needed a new enemy - unfortunately since 9/11 & the policies of Bush they've been able to attract more & more people.

This will last for 20 years at least I'm afraid, and the human race will continue to blow itself up in the name of religion. If it wasn't religion, it would be something else - Marmite Vs Bovril would probably be used as an excuse for these people

Newsnight have just done an excellent programme on this subject. There is a generational divide within the Muslim community - the angry, politicised youth are not been given proper leadership and are falling into the clutches of the bombers. Unless their anger is channelled in a more positive direction, and that requires leadership from both Muslims and non-Muslims (the powerful white establishment can't cop out of this process), we will continue to have a problem.

I watched Newsnight & got the feeling that the Imams need to start speaking against radicalism a lot more.
