Dirk Benedict (just before going into the celeb Big Brother house) asked me and my mates where the nearest strip club was, walked him and a couple of his fat american friends to spearmint rhino, and he gave us £50 for literally a 30 second journey

My wife and I went out to a local pub with Emlyn Hughes, our mate was with us so just the 4 of us went out to this little back street pub, sat with him chatting all evening then back to the hotel (my mate owned the hotel) and drank till the early hours, really nice guy as it goes.

What was nice, and impressive, he came back to Cwmbran (where we first lived when we moved to Wales) a couple of years later, stayed at the same hotel (which was our local in those days) and after he had checked in came into the bar and came up to me and remembered me and my wife by our names, considering he was a very busy top class international footballer who must have met many many people in his travels, to remember who we were was impressive.

Howard Wilkinson was one of my Dads best mates, he got him to play for the Waggon and horses (the pub in north laines who were in the county league) when he played for the albion in the 70's. Apparantly I watched the 1972 cup final on his lap! Dad has passed away now but HW still keeps on touch he is a top fella and not as dour as his media profile suggests. He still has a very soft spot for the Albion

Had lunch with David Puttnam at Lloyds. Quite boring admitted he didn't want to be there. I did want to be there as it was free and 3 hours out of the office. He appreciated that.
