Met or whatever old bill have always taken the same tactics at football grounds. Don't go anywhere near the scary looking hardened thugs, but find a nice easy target who is doing little more than minding their own business, chuck them in the van and get the numbers up

Cant recall who`s quote this is but , it went , go out there and equalise before they score ! . I have seen many times our wonderful police forces take this action , go out there and treat them like they are/have done/doing something wrong before they do it .

You’re in for a shock next season in Europe if you think our Police are incapable/heavy handed.

The very few posters on here who follow England away will know what I mean.
Agreed - French will indiscriminately pepper / cs spray into crowds.

Spanish will baton anyone in their way , lock exit gates.

Eastern Europe basically tax you for any made up law

Yep. Been all over (with Spurs) as you have (with England). Spanish by far the worst. Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia. All the same, and police always in balaclavas too. Did Barcelona (a) with my 65+ year old Dad and his knee is still f***ed 4 years on from an unnecessary baton.

Few mates had safes emptied in Maribor (Slovenia) for absolutely nothing too by Police.

Only police who are fair from experience are the Germans. They’re present but they don’t intervene unless necessary.

I hope you get Europe (unless it’s at the expense of us of course ) but this forum will be a hotbed if it happens.

Paxton you are so right.
I would also like to say we have a lot of new fans which are so wet.
Don’t have to justify it to me mate.

I have followed Brighton home and away (pre Premier League days.. it became a conflict of interest at that point!) - Brightons support, home and away, in my opinion, is in the top 10 in the country, hands down. Superb. - Anyone worth their salt knows this forum, and these threads does the fans / fanbase a disservice.

Was going to say never had issues in Germany , except I’m sure we got ‘escorted’ the wrong way in Berlin once and pelted with bottles.

And agree Seville probably the worst I’ve experienced, borderline dangerous in the stadium as well

Trying to remember who I heard say this but recall this quote a lot “there’s no situation so dismal that a policeman couldn't make worse”

Assume a Spurs fan wasn’t there. The main complaints are about a crush the Met allowed to happen by kettling us unnecessarily (and illegally) outside Norwood Junction and hitting a woman with a baton to “restore order” (which was fine until that point)

My 16 year old son was off his feet in the crush and I had to support his back to keep him upright.

The Met also covered up their numbers, illegally.

I’ve experienced French “policing” at a festival, Spanish policing at football and had to give baton wielding police bribes in more than one Third World country. I know the score but it’s all whataboutery. The Met were predictably poor today. Probably arranging a rumble on their whatsapp groups instead of exchanging racist jokes

You can assume correct - I wasn’t there today - I was in Leicester (yes we lost 4-1 ha ha ha)

Only done Palace away with Brighton about 6/7 times, so not as many as most.. the memories of the 5-0 defeat as a 10 year old in ‘02 after the game still live with me til this day.

Not condoning what you experienced today, just saying, next season will be worse in Europe.

I always get accused of being defensive, don’t try and take my medal.

:lolol: Fair enough.

Yes it might be worse. But knowing Brighton we’ll finally get to Europe and get knocked out of the prelims by some Irish village with three local coppers that all look like Father Ted, having had 30 shots on target.

Today’s policing was Palace away of a good few years ago yet there was no need for it. And I was genuinely worried for my boy and his mates at one point.

We were slowed down in a road near Norwood Junction that hits a crossroads. I can remember going to the same junction and seeing it properly kick off after the game in all four directions. Today was a singing contest
