Without wanting to throw a spanner in the works, I know which of the two I prefer.

Throw that spanner, which is it? I reckon it’s Sons of Kemet?

You're right on that. Me likes jaaaazzzzz, whereas proggy stuff doesn't do it for me. Hence I'm also a big fan of FYAH by Theon Cross, the tuba player in SoK.

You’ll know this already, but for the benefit of others, also check out Shabaka and the Ancestors, the other group that he leads. He’s also been a member of Melt Yourself Down but don’t think he plays with them these days.

Anyone else at the Centre last night for The National? Absolutely outstanding. The best gig I’ve been to this year and I’ve been to a lot.

Highly recommended for fans of noise pop, Rotterdam's visceral and brilliant The Sweet Release of Death play The Prince Albert tomorrow (Thursday) night.....bring earplugs.

https://thesweetreleaseofdeath.bandcamp.com/album/the-blissful-joy-of-living

https://www.facebook.com/events/2379711169024438/

They are playing Bognor this weekend as well at Rockaway Beech, I am looking forward to it, 28 bands back to back, as a previous poster showed, could be increasing my life expectancy.

Any advise on who I should miss when I need to go and eat. I think on Sunday I want to see everyone, may have to eat only fast food.

Noise pop; a bit like heavy metal , barely any tune , and guaranteed to give you a headache after 10 mins listening. It’s a no from me.

Got offered a ticket but have work. Dur. Please let us know how Young Knives are, if you can be arsed. They could be some indie relic playing biennial tours but instead they're getting more gothic and weird all the time, because they've got too many ideas not to experiment, and I like it a lot.

Defiantly going to take in Young Knives, will report back. Whats good is that, if you have the stamina you could pretty much watch every live set over the 3 days.

Starting with good intentions but I am sure papa johns vegan pizza will drag me away when some of the sets get challenging.

Will be at The Hope & Ruin this Friday for Clowns and Mum Dad & The Kids. Following on from last Saturday's superb 20/20 Visions show at the Albert am looking to up my gig going game this year. Already have Black Honey, Beach Riot and The Flying Burrito Bros 50th Anniversary Tribute show lined up for this month.

I was thinking of doing that. Are they any good for £12? I can already envisage it being half-full of veterans in Smashing Pumpkins t-shirts supping ale - not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, but it might mean I trudge despondently out halfway through.

Jeffrey Lewis is playing Resident on Wednesday :)

To be honest I thought £10+fee was pricey for them, but they have a decent enough local following to make it worthwhile. At some point people need to get paid. Clowwns are great live I have seen them numerous times, very energetic performers and pretty spiky live, so I am looking forward to it. Also Love Vigilante is such a great groove-fest any excuse to see it played live is a good one.

Saw Mum Dad & The Kids for the first time on Saturday, after years of hearing my friends bang on about them, and was very impressed. Yet again another charismatic frontman backed by a solid band (including Stereolab's bass player apparently). I think it will be a good night.

Brilliant way to start the new year. Young Knives were still pushing it. They said they were Young Knives 2.0.
