Just got back from the Nick Cave gig. Anyone else been to these arena shows? Was a bit sceptical about the big venues and the new album but it worked very well. The silence of 11,000 people felt very heavy at times and lent an eerie quality to the new stuff. His preacher man schtick works even better with more people; the stage design was simple but quite clever and enabled him to be in the hands of the crowd for long periods. He’s really on top of his game at the moment.

I had consecutive nights at The Dome earlier this week which, for me, only has one rival venue in Brighton. The Dome worked brilliantly for both Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Michael Kiwanuka, which says something about its versatility.

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit nailed it at the Dome tonight. What a talent.

Two days in a row at The Joker.

Tonight was Newmoon, tomorrow Baywaves, a last minute change over Pixx at Green Door Store.

Saw Newmoon a couple of months ago and thought they were excellent.
