West to see Kasabian at Terminal 5 in NYC Saturday night. First leg of US tour and playing Brighton late November. They were fantastic although much helped by playing at smaller venue. They would never have got away with it in the UK.

Went to see Suuns at Village Underground last night. Wow, what a band! Good venue too apart from the bar.

They did, and weren't for me I'm afraid. First tune was OK in a Shamen/Beloved kind of way but after that it went downhill fast. Too lacking in any direction and too self indulgent. A few at the front seemed to like them though.

Fair enough. I saw them headline their own show earlier this year and really enjoyed it. Not yet bought the new album though.

First time I've heard Protogenesis described as Shamen! You know what, it is a bit, mind you I quite like The Shamen.

Saw Goa at The Concorde last night. Wierd experience for me, everything I saw and heard I should have enjoyed, they're a great spectacle and their psych-world hybrid should be up my street.

I just didn't connect with it and ended up thinking it was a bit naff. I can imagine they'd be ludicrously good at a festival but on a weeknight, I couldn't really get in touch with it.

My loss I suspect.

Yeah, I like a bit of that, wasn't there though.

I see Weatherall and Avery are doing Audio again in November. I'll be down the front for that.

Seeing Carl Craig in Manchester later this month as well. Can't wait.

Finally got myself a Perfume Genius ticket last night - surprised it hasn't sold out to be honest, thought by album no. 3 he was now bigger than The Haunt. Amusingly for a £10 ticket, Seetickets were trying to charge £1.25 booking fee and £6.50 transaction fee, fees that were over 70% of the original ticket cost. Complete madness, but guess what, I didn't buy from them.

Going to get some War on Drugs tickets tonight - although it's a bigger venue (and £21.50 - ouch!), I think a Dome show should be better than a sold out Concorde 2 show, where I really struggle to get close to the stage. They're the kind of band that will fill that space as well, so should be good.

Annoyed that MacDemarco has sold out (despite what I just said about sold out Concorde 2 shows), anyone have a spare? (long shot I know). Still umming and ahhing over Mogwai - they were good on this tour but I just dunno if it's worth another £30.

Interestingly the idea of them at The Dome appeals more than The Concorde to me as well. They'll make full use of the bigger soundsystem. No hurry I shouldn't think at that price though.

Musically yes but they seem to hang out with Tim Burgess a lot. Their names often crop up together. How you getting on with the new long player? I recall there was a domestic split

It's grown wider. Same as the first one with me, wasn't blown away at first and its crept up on me. The best moments are in the middle of the album, I reckon. Really looking forward to catching them live again, they make me smile.

Hopefully Joseph will be able to get the back for an Outer Church before they go big time!
