It does rather, I'm hoping to pop along, the benefit is for BHCR, the station I broadcast on AND on that subject - this week's show features music from Anais Mitchell, The Men, John Grant & Speak Galactic who all play Brighton (or Bexhill) in the near future.

Still one week behind- another hugely enjoyable selection of music. Some stuff such as Neneh Cherry I would not normally consider listening to so thanks for bringing to my attention.

The excellent Hypnotized play the Green Door this evening, it's free and will be a cracking night as they celebrate the release of their new EP.

Synth-pop for me tonight - CHVRCHES at The Forum. Kids are gutted - they bloomin' love CHVRCHES, but no under 14s allowed. I quite like them - good tunes, nice atmospherics, but will they be able to keep interest levels up for an extended period of time? I'll let you know...

Going to see Toy, not overly keen on them to be honest, but then it's late night silliness with Erol Arkan and the fantastic Daniel Avery tonight.

saw Queens of the Stoneage and Nine Inch nails on Tuesday at the awesome Perth Arena. great show, both bands were really good but QOTSA won it for me, NIN played too much old stuff and not enough from their great Hesitation marks album they were supposedly promotingo in ages, both bands, my tinitis is st. Loudest gig I've been to in ages. My tinitis is still ringing away in the left ear, didn't take plugs as I didn't think an arena show would be so loud. Getting old.

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
Saw Ella Eyre at the Concorde 2 last night.
What a fantastic performer! Superb voice, amazing stage presence, brilliant energy, and that hair!! Should have its' own show ;-)
Only a 45 minute set, but still bloody brilliant!
Can anyone tell me who her support was please? Thought he was pretty good too!
Overall a great gig, at a venue that I'd never been to before

The Tense Men (single launch)/Slum Of Legs/Occult Hand/Soft Walls gig at the Cowley Club on Friday looks good. I can't go but here's a heads up.
£5 benefit gig.

Similar sort of thing - are you going to Housewives at the Cowley after the Ipswich game? They're signed to Faux Discs as well, released a very good cassette at the tail end of last year. It's a bit Women meets This Heat.

They're one of those bands I just think life's a bit too short to get excited by. I don't hate them, I just wouldn't pay to see them.

I think they're dull. I bought their last album after friends recommended them, but to me the band sound as bored as I feel when listening to them.

Enjoy, Herr Tubthumper!

You do feel the life being sucked out of your very soul sometimes when listening to three or four of their songs in a row. They can certainly drain the colour out of a sunny day. Ironically, you feel that they could be doing the opposite if they got a decent producer in to add some brightness and joy to the music. I'm possibly now beginning to sound like someone from the 1980s telling Morrissey to "cheer up". ???

Hmmm. The problem I have tonight is that the Frau has just signed a contract on a job she's been after and we plan to celebrate .....at Erol/Avery. But we got bloody Toy in between. I'll be like a coiled spring during their set.

Really enjoyed the show, a real good mix in there. Thanks.
Do that Fire! lot ever play? Do they play in the UK? They'd be worth a trip up to London for.
