Labour have made mistakes, that is evident to see.

But what exactly are people expecting from the conservatives???

The power has shifted and no doubt it is the end of the power being in labour's hands, but surely people are deluding themselves if they think conservatives are the answer to this countries problems!

There all awful, but choosing who is the least awful is a difficult thing.

10p up on this, 10p down on that. money for schools or money for hospitals. tax rates up, tax rates down.

Do people think conservatives back in power will do anything that will drastically change things? Or is it just the shear hatred of labour party, that is aking people feel like anything but labour is better!!

It's all about Gordon Brown.

The thing the Tories fear the most is that Labour get rid of him now and replace him with someone more appealing to the electorate. That could, potentially, save New Labour's bacon.

If there was a really decent candidate I could see Gordy getting the axe, but there isn't anyone - he strolled the leadership election not so long ago, after all.

What Labour need is a 1993 version of Tony Blair.

Exactly, who is there to replace him?

If they could find someone credible, it could wrong foot the Tories and confuse some of the electorate who'd already think there was change..

I think that was what was hoped with Brown but he was effectively 50% of the Blair adminstration so it is impossible to present him as a break from the past.

Major was able to do that briefly until the past came to stab him in every direction.

But if that is the case then people who vote labour should be making it public that they want labour in government, they just dont want Gordon brown....But changing to consrvatives from labour surely isnt the answer.

If you didnt like Wilkins in charge of the albion, would you go support palace?

But what exactly are people expecting from the Conservatives?

I'm not sure what they expect, but I'm guessing that what people are going to actually get is readily available in prison, to wit in the showers, without the fuss and bother of a general election.

BOHICA, baby

The tories will be shitter than shit, but my main disappointment with the labour party and Brown is that he's HOPELESS at defending himself from them!?

FFS brown you fat wheezing old git, say SOMETHING to shoot them DOWN - or you are a worthless 'politician' every way around.

Example - Cameron has been rabbiting that labour are terrible, yet says they are stealing his best ideas. WHAT? Just mention that one Brown you stupid goon, never mind that they are 'toffs', that putdown SUCKS and hold no water at all.

Cameron keeps saying his party present a better alternative, yet he hasn't said ANYTHING that he would do, all he spouts is how awful labour are! He has no clue, yet is spanking Brown all over the show without a shot fired in return!

Brown is obviously a useless wanker if he cannot at least put the tories in their place.

CHANGE

Indeed, but it's what most people expect. Gullibility wins elections.

Fact, and underlined by people repeating almost verbatim, what they heard on the radio or read in the papers.

I listened to an article on the radio the other day, and some biddy was garbling on about the tories being "toffs". She just read or heard that criticism last week.

I bet not one voter knows what the tory mandate is, or what implementations they intend to manifest upon them!

Not a hope in hell.Changing the leader won't get away from what new labour really stands for.People won't be conned by that anyway.A change is for the best.I just hope i never see labour in power again in my lifetime once they are removed from office soon.

The posh bit
to change the primeminister again without an election would not be an option as people will leave labour in even more droves than they have already.
think we are stuck with brown until he loses and then labour kick his fat scottish arse out of the leaders post.

Governments run out of puff, and people forget how bad the other lot were when they were in.

I tend to agree with the "it won't make any difference" viewpoint, also the one that most MP's are in it for themselves.

Voters may spout and shout, but in the end whoever's in takes yer money, and economic pressures outside of the control of our country force up the price of oil, thus etc, etc.

Mp's,however, will merely "employ" family members on the public purse, enjoy huge expenses that you can only dream about, and have a pension scheme that will soon allow them more time with their family. And fact finding missions on the State, somewhere warm, safe and sunny.

The Conservatives will win the next election, and probably the major change will be the reinstatement of hunting wiith dogs.

For the rest,it's bread and circuses, death and taxes.

I am not so sure about the reinstatement of allowing hunting with dogs, that would mean passing a law to legalise animal cruelty, I don't think even the Tories would be stupid enough to try that...we are after all a nation of animal lovers.

And as an animal lover you are also presumably against halal ritual slaughter of animals aren't you?

There is no easy or totally humane way to slaughter an animal for food, whether by wringing its neck, electrocution or slitting its throat. I don't for an instant imagine that any animal I have eaten has been chased over hill and dale by a pack of hounds, pursued by a bunch of loons on horseback wearing fancy dress and baying for its death.
