Over 1,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the channel in the last 7 days.
Genuine question.
How are these figures calculated?

My assumption was that illegal immigrants, want to stay under the radar.
Or is the issue that once you've landed, you can immediately register with the authorities?

Edit:
It's ok I've found the data - Home office data states 758 in the last 7 days.
I assume you're guessing that a third aren't registered?
Or just exaggerating?

He explained this before the election when he said he wouldn't raise taxes for working people.

Asked what he meant by “working people” in a radio interview on LBC on Tuesday, Sir Keir said: “People who earn their living, rely on our [public] services and don’t really have the ability to write a cheque when they get into trouble” he said.
Thank you, but that is very open to interpretation, he himself admitted he would only use our health services the NHS. I know people who get into trouble because they spend more than they earn, because they must have Sky, Cigarettes, beer down the pub, the latest car on monthly payments. Personally I see none of them essentials. I have not read this yet in the manifesto so if you know the main points in what he is actually going to do to support working people that would be good.

Posted like a true Daily Mail reader. Maybe you should mix up your company a bit more.

Well that I assume is not a compliment? I do believe it was you that said your partner was dyslexec , so you will remember reading is not my speciality, so I don't read newspaper unless I get asked something. How do you mean change my company? For what reason?

I don't know anyone who has a brand new car on instalments or otherwise. Some friends have Sky, many don't, and I don't know anyone who smokes now.

Rachel Reeves has already mentioned this scheme to regenerate dockland so brownfield housing, with £55M from the government, similar from Liverpool council and £500M from Homes England, including parks, amenities etc.

Perhaps your associates don't fit that profile, but many do, when I said smoke it also covers vaping, sky covers Netflix's etc. What profile do your associates fit in then?

Associates is a long word for friends and relatives.
People who work hard, although I have a couple of friends with severe life conditions who are on PIP, look after their families, and try to get by from month to month. Some have savings, others don't.

My dyslexia doesn't really effect maths apart from reading it wrong but my arithmetic is pretty sharp and I would say associates has a lot less letters than friend and relatives.
Sorry to hear of your friend's struggles, I have one two friends than have terminal cancer, one doesn't want a penny from anyone and will work until he passes and the other has indirectly asked for donations to support his family, life can be a tough gig.☹️

I don't understand it though. Has it not been against the law for some time ?
It's not a specific offence.

Imagine it will be hard to prove without cctv and toxicology combined but if it puts off a few people from attempting it then it will be worth it.

Very interesting, but I don’t think itll be much change really, take a look at LNER for what the new nationalised network is likely to be like.
Yep. Now the worst ToC for ticket pricing.

Nationalisation seems sensible but it needs to come with a review and update of ticketing to make it much more simple on a national basis and cheaper than internal flights.

In response to posts earlier today I've merged and retitled the two threads covering broadly the same things over different time periods. This is simply to tidy the board up and keep discussion in one place. The board software decides the merge pattern and I've retitled it to a more generic Labour discussion. No posts have been edited.

In addition (and this goes for other political threads too) please try to make posts about the subject and not about yourself or about other NSC users and please try and play nicely with each other.

Speaking from my daughter in law's experience, the police wouldn't do a toxicology test without knowing what drug they were testing for!

I read that one area they will, eventually, have total control over is ticketing.....and they plan to simply this.
