It's been a shit show so far, although the ghosting of Emily 'Thorny' Thornberry has to be a good thing. :giggle:

Point of interest, are you suggesting he should agree to the 30% plus pay rise over time to settle this? Very dangerous ground if he does imo.
No, and Starmer and/or Streeting said pre-election they can't and won't do that.

But both sides will be entering discussions with a willing and positive mindset actively looking for resolution. That alone will make a compromise middleground easier to find.

Pragmatically, getting the doctors on side and off the picket lines has to be one of the easiest things to get resolved quickly, and will be a massive positive.

Not easy at all. Their demands cannot be afforded nor can the precedent be set, whilst Starmer also needs to demonstrate that he is strong enough to stand up to the unions. However, the doctors will be expecting to get close to the deal they want now the tories have been routed.

If, but equally importantly how, Starmer resolves this dispute could define the next 5 years for, from his perspective, better or for worse.

No pressure then!

Thee imminent cut in interest rates will help but can't see much progress unless taxes are raised which they seem to be against at the moment
The strange thing is that according to all political parties ( with the exception of the Tories ) and some experts, we're currently being taxed more than ever. It does raise the question where all this tax take goes - surely a prudent Labour government would be able to spend the tax take more wisely than the previous government - i.e. not giving it to their mates for duff PPE. Unless of course the tax take has ended up in the same place as the missing FA Cup Final money.

Unless I'm being whooshed, why and how has it, exactly?

Given that the Covid enquiry
regarding the UK's pandemic response and, by extension, future pandemic policy remains ongoing, it seems entirely inappropriate to bring Vallance into a cabinet position until said enquiry reaches its conclusions.

Day 2 and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and coffee, no champagne. I’m starting to doubt socialism now. Was I sold a lie?
I need not have worried. Socialism is everything they said it would be.

If anyone truly believes that Starmer and the Labour Government will in any way improve life for the average person in this country they've got a huge shock coming.

Every time I see your food posts, I get hungry- My grocery bill is going to increase if you post every day on this thread for the next 5 years 🙂

That dish was superb, pork belly and halibut. I’m sure this will be state subsidized under Starmer.
