I answered this interpretation in post 3305 with some actual examples.
Sure there will be some people doing as you say and I do not agree with Rabbi Sachs' comments this week about Corbyn in 2013. However, there is also unaddressed anti scemitism in the Labour Party and people should not dismiss the subject by hiding behind Israel/Palestine (not saying you are doing so).

Well, I did say 'some' people, and the examples you quote are sadly representative of that Jews = big business = robbing the workers attitude that appeared on a certain mural that Corbyn, the idiot, seemed to defend.

Corbyn and his inner circle. Party politics is all about perception so whether or not Corbyn has anything to apologise for himself hardly matters any more. Many people seem to think he has said something for which he needs to apologise and therefore he has. Then someone - Seumas Milne, for example, in the absence of Malcolm Tucker - needs to take a pro-active approach to limiting any further damage. That could include ferreting through the records to see who might have any other embarrassing utterances, photographs or visits to foreign cemeteries waiting to be discovered by the Daily Mail. A big job, but if they're serious, it will have to be done.

Or they could just keep on arguing the point, but I think that in the public mind the argument is already lost.

Well, thanks for the detailed reply - not something you always expect on here! - but never heard of any of 'em, sorry! I do, however, think that 'they could just keep on arguing' isn't a bad forecast!

I think some people are purposely conflating and confusing a pro-Palestine, anti-Israel stance with anti-semitism, but because Corbyn and his cronies are so obstinate (if you're being kind, insensitive/downright thick if you're not), Labour have allowed it to blow up out of all proportion. They need to apologise and sort it.

Of course they're doing it on purpose, it absolutely suits their agenda - The thing about Corbyn being obstinate is entirely true and probably not politically the best way forward but it's something I really admire about him, it's part and parcel of being as principled as he obviously is. I'm disappointed that they have bullied in to potentially adopting the IHRA definition of anti-semitism which does EXACTLY what you've talked about in your first sentence but again they probably have no choice politically.

Anyone who has attended a University campus in the last ten years will note that the left has become preoccupied with Palestine.

Nothing wrong with that (completely the opposite) and I'd imagine the situation was the same with South Africa before my time.

However being "left wing" is not defined by being upset about one particular problem.

This is now is the problem with the Labour party. Activists have defined what it means to a be a member and if you don't fit in you are out. Student politics at its best.

For all their rabid frothing you don't hear those on the right of the Conservative party describing remainers as non Tories.

Thoughtful summary of the history of left wing politics in this country. Socialism is similar to religion in that its fine ideals are continually being let down by many of its followers. No surprise that both are marginalised in this country.
