I love The Jam, but I can't decide on my favourite song they've blessed me with. All Mod Cons is my preferred album, some of the songs on that are classic. At the moment, I'd have to say my favourites are the dreams of children, and beat surrender.

How about you:

What's your favourite Jam song?

What's your favourite Jam album?

Over to you gentlemen.

And yes I did copy and paste Conboy's template because i'm lazy.

Down In the Tube Station & Eton Rifles..By a country mile.

Weller, is class all round really..The Style Council weren't a bad mob either.

Not in the same class as The Jam though, of course.

Very difficult one to answer. I flip between All Mod Cons and Setting Sons as to my favourite album. The Place I Love and Burning Sky would be my favourite songs most of the time but other times Ghosts and Boy About Town are up there. Man in the Corner Shop is pretty seminal as well.

Can agree that Weller is a genius though.

Anyone who doesn't agree can kiss my face.

I'd like to add The Style Council song "Long Hot Summer" to the list, a very different style from the excellent Jam songs mentioned above but is still a classic tune in my opinion.

Bets Album - All Mod Cons

Best Track - Impossible to choose. But I love "Fly" off that album, and "In The Crowd". And "That's Entertainment" is a work of genius, despite repetition.

Sticking with the Style Council and in particular their more mellow offerings how about "You're the Best Thing"? I love the part that goes "I may get it wrong some time but I come back in style". Don't know why - just appeals to me!

There is a car in the Deep South that eschews the "attractions" of the local rock/country stations and is forever Weller in all his guises! Can't get through to my 12 year old son though who is becoming more and more Nirvana obsessed by the day.

Re Dreams of Children - the live version on Dig the New Breed is amazing. If it was a sitcom it would be Are You Being Served and I don't think higher praise than that is possible.

All Mod Cons - Best Album but up against some superb competition.

Private Hell hasn't been mentioned but deserves to be.
Pretty Green is brilliant as an opener to a gig, I think he did that with The Paul Weller Movement at the Event but I may be wrong.

The only not-very-good tracks were written by Bruce...sorry Bruce.
Needless to say Smithers-Jones doesn't fall into that category.

All Mod Cons for me.

Individual track is very difficult, would have to choose between
Ghosts
That's Entertainment
Butterfly Collector

For those that want to see the nearest thing to the greatest band of all time, The Jamm, the tribute band, are on their farewell tour at present, and they are superb.

Leg out of the bed
Fave album: All Mod Cons

Fave song: Away From The Numbers

First saw them at The Dome in '79 when I was 17 and Weller was 21

He put into words a lot of what I and lots of other youngsters were feeling

'What's the point of saying destroy? We need a new life for everyone....'

He played "That's Enterainment" "Butterfly Collector" and "A Town Called Malice" last night in Belfast and those plus "Eton Rifles" the night before in Dublin. Hard to argue with that selection.
