FFS. I think I’ve just had the dreaded ‘Chairman’s Vote of Confidence.’

You're alright. It was definitely me.

I won't miss the weekly "collection plate" and the cold showers but, on the other hand, a life of merging accidental duplicate threads, correcting badly spelled thread titles and sighing at youtube links is behind me.

I could have been someone.

But others doesn't suggest MODS.
I could've offered Bozza money towards NSC....

NSC is wholly-owned by me and no-one has ever given me/NSC a penny towards running costs.

Fortunately, even though online advertising seems to be ever-declining, NSC has always had sufficient pageviews that all those tiny fractions of a penny add up sufficiently to cover running costs and a bit more besides.

Many years ago I funded the site out of my own pocket, simply because I thought it was too important to let it die, but that's not been the case for, at a guess, 12-15 years now.

Thank you Darren for your explanation.
Maybe I was a tad out of line in offering up an explanation of NSC from my amoeba size brain :D
I was rather feeling the heat on my ass from a dullard:D

James Doe is in a similar situation here...

The most curious thing..
None of the mods have any financial investment in NSC, nor do we receive any financial reward and have never requested any.

Your suspicions are unmerited.
I thought your reward was being keeper of the "stash".

Once upon a time you posted monthly accounts for those of us sad enough to take an interest.

Apologies. It would have been the 'mailing list', then.

Indeed - those were far simpler times!

Since then I was advised to form a limited company and transfer the site into that in order to provide some protection for myself and my family against bad things happening here which could lead to my home being taken away or something.

The same limited company is also where my freelance earnings go, so it's all a bit more complicated now.

I'll always try and be as transparent as possible with all this stuff. Which reminds me, people still often talk about "not upsetting Google". We've not had Google-supplied ads on here for quite a few years now and, although any ad platform could take a dim view of the content their ads are being shown against, the fear we used to have that Google could pull the plug and NSC would rapidly be losing quite a bit of cash doesn't exist any more.

That's not to say that means we can all go porn crazy and the like. I think a number of the changes we made back then to try and be Google-friendly probably turned out to be good things for the site more generally.

Blimey where has this gone, I only wanted to talk about biscuits?

While I'm here, milk chocolate/plain chocolate or NO chocolate digestives?

Bloody Beakerfolk

Don't talk to me about the beaker people. They came over here with their beakers and put our local potters out of business.

As if that weren't enough, the Romans came, stopped us painting ourselves blue and added their fancy pesto sauce to our perfectly adequate potage.

Finally, the Vikings came and nicked all the blondes and took them to Iceland.

These foreigners have ruined our country. Oooh, it makes me mad.
