Stop blowing your own trumpet you helmet.
Stop blowing your own trumpet you helmet.
NSC is wholly-owned by me and no-one has ever given me/NSC a penny towards running costs.
Fortunately, even though online advertising seems to be ever-declining, NSC has always had sufficient pageviews that all those tiny fractions of a penny add up sufficiently to cover running costs and a bit more besides.
Many years ago I funded the site out of my own pocket, simply because I thought it was too important to let it die, but that's not been the case for, at a guess, 12-15 years now.
I keep seeing references to NSC mods favouring the left, but not sure why that is the case.
We have one mod who is a proud member of the Conservative party, another who offered £50 to REMF if a suspected incident in London had been caused by a Muslim.
It doesn't make you a leftie or a rightie, but it does make you a bit of a cheap tart
Stop blowing your own trumpet you helmet.
Having had the pleasure of meeting Harry Wilson's Tackle recently at a match, I suspect he is no longer supple enough to blow his own trumpet, and I mean that in a kind way.
Cheap? That would imply GB News pay anything at all.
If you've had problems then NSC can be here for you. Some of the very best threads are when people reach out for help - whether it's mental health, drinking, gambling, problems with the missus, HR issues at work, getting another job - I've seen it all solved on here. But you have to be honest and then you'll get the full benefit of replies back. Wrapping it up in other stuff isn't going to bring out the best in people.
I don't bear any grudges towards you at all for those posts, they were dealt with at the time and are now either off the board or down on page 111. You're Brighton first and foremost so of course I'll take a virtual "handshake", just so long as both of us understand that the sticky applies going forward. No free passes but you have my word I'll always take your posts on their merits and that help is always available on NSC to those who ask properly and nicely.
I'm 'neuratypical' and I suspect I am far from alone on NSC. This means that reading people is very hard for me, especially when people are mucking about, particularly if they are being mucking about in an unpredictable way (up to, and including, trolling).
Having taken you off 'ignore' recently, I'd now be happy to shake your hand.
I've got into a fair bit of trouble (at work and in my private live) for ill-judged comments, mostly done for comedic effect, or for outrageous rudeness in moments of unguarded annoyance (ahem) and I've realised that I'm ill-suited to social media if there is minimal curation. Again, I suspect I'm far from alone in this regards.
Fortunately NSC is highly curated so I feel 'safer' and not under attack all the time.
In return for the privilage of being allowed to post I am trying harder to avoid getting into silly spats with people, and be generally nicer and kinder when I disagree with some idiot*. I have no idea how well I'm doing, though, because I wouldn't (because of my 'neuroatypicality').
*Damn .
This makes total sense, hopefully, you can see my viewpoint of being neurodiverse, but only really getting to grips with this in my early 50's, as I did not know.
Another virtual hand reaches out to you Harry.
Please read my above post to get a bit more of an insight into who I really am.
Ideally the shorter you keep the post the better for me, its probably a good tip for the other 10+% of neurodiverse that post on here too, some may know many will not.

The first few days of this have been very successful as far as I can see.
Labelling and dehumanising etc. seem to have been completely stopped.
Long may it continue.
So, work done, and exhale.
Well, it's amazing how finding out how one's mind works changes one's whole view of the world. I was 62!
As I've said elsewhere, I'm trying to be kinder and not so reactive. It's helped hugely at work.
I'll save my long ramblings for elsewhere - message received
I completely understand you will get complaints from both sides but I think we know thete is a predominantly left of centre majority on NSC amongst the membership also reflected in the moderating team which you have acknowledged before. I am guessing pressure for things needing to change has mainly come from people on one side of the argument. My issue is consistency and from my admittedly biased perspective fairness in moderating decisions. If your latest announcement ends up with an ever decreasing number of right of centre posters making NSC even more of an echo chamber then that would be a shame.
