49 could well have been a bit higher I didnt check at midday. It was a very dry desert heat though I have suffered much worse at much lower temperatures with high humidity.

Recently, 38 in Lyon, but low 40's in Athens in 2004.

I would be very sceptical about what a car says though as the thermometer reader is under the bonnet so give an inaccurate reading when in the sun.

My birthday whilst working in Muscat, 1990.

51°.

Allegedly the good old Sultan had decreed that if it reached 50° then 'outside' workers could have a break. Odd that the official readings always said 49.

Hot weather is sh1te, roll on thermal glove nights at The Amex.

No idea? if it's too warm I tend to stay in the shade rather than hanging around with a thermometer?

Houston Texas. About 20 years ago. I was en route to California and had a plane change (some weird itinery). I nipped outside for a fag, and after about one second turned on my heels and went back into the air con. It was around 40 degrees, but high humidity. I swear that one puff on that ciggy would have killed me. How anyone can live in such extremes is beyond me.

I didn't have a thermometer with me, but must be my trips to Las Vegas. Never felt as much dripping sweat on my face as that along the strip, but walking between casino's meant it wasn't really a struggle.

I believe they are normally located on the underside of the front bumper edge. They tend to over-read initially until airflow is passed across them as they get affected by heat from the surface below.

It's in the shade where they use the thermometer, so you can stay in the shade and take the temperature at the same time.

Seems a lot of nonsense to me? I'm from the old school where if it's too warm you move to somewhere cooler, if it's too cold you move to somewhere warmer, if your not sure which way the breeze is going you lick your finger.

I believe its a sign of the times. Human made global warming seems to be a fact rather than a theory with most experts.

Played football in Taipei in a summer tournament when it was 38 degrees. Twenty minute 11 a side games with rolling subs. Lasted five minutes. Done 40 something in South India. It didn’t get below 35 at night.

I love heat though. I’d happily work in Asia again if someone offered me a job. *flutters eyelids*
