50 degrees on New Years Day in Sydney a few years ago. It was horrific
Hottest day I've experienced in 17 years out in Arizona is 119F (which is 48.3C).

Allegedly the good old Sultan had decreed that if it reached 50° then 'outside' workers could have a break. Odd that the official readings always said 49.

I believe they are normally located on the underside of the front bumper edge. They tend to over-read initially until airflow is passed across them as they get affected by heat from the surface below.

Recently, 38 in Lyon, but low 40's in Athens in 2004.
I would be very sceptical about what a car says though as the thermometer reader is under the bonnet so give an inaccurate reading when in the sun.
When in Arizona (nearly 30 years ago) the top of many door frames had 'misters' spraying out water.
The floor directly beneath them was always bone dry.
I take it you still have such things.
Zambia/Zimbabwe border Vic falls 52 degs C....no air con , no misters , no nothing.
