I believe this is all a rouse, Vicente will play for us again, this happens a lot with football players. Don't fear people, don't fear.

Nothing to fear. Despite the love in for Vicente. There was an Albion before him & there will be one after him & lets be honest No one player is bigger than our beloved Club.

Not fearing anything. Let him go - there are other players out there who want to play for us.

look that may not be the case, maybe he does want to play for us? who knows, but you can't take away from the equation his wife, who said she felt isolated here, who has a 2 week old baby.

Vicente "I really would like to go back I think i owe them another year"

Wife "I am not going back, the weather is horrible, I had no friends, I felt alone and what about our 2 week old baby?, I need my husband here and our baby needs his father" etc etc

So what we're saying is a celebratory bonk for finding a club, and signing for us, has in fact 9 and a bit months later come back to bite us on the backside? From what was said when he first signed but various people he is a loyal person, and sure, and rightly so his first loyalty is to his family. Can completely empathise with both parties on this situation. Am sure if it wasn't for Vicente's new child he would be more than happy to play here as per last year. Alas a new baby does tend to throw spanners in the works, whose to say how his wife feels? Maybe 4 weeks ago she was well up for coming back here, but after the birth and refinding her support network there she just doesn't want to leave again. Fully support club taking out extentsion to contract, even if for ensuring he doesn't play for anyone else here, however, really wouldn't surprise me if more time was needed to let all the excitement calm down and that. Just unfortunate that the timing of the birth has coincided with the end of his first years contract.

"F*ck it, I'll get you a babysitter, stop nagging, I'll be back in a year"!!

Of course. The reason for his not wanting to come back is johnny immaterial. Whether it is footballing or family reasons - of course he can stay there. However, if a club wants the benefit of his services they need to pay the appropriate rate.

I've come back home.
If The Messiah does return for the second coming how will people see him? Will they see him in a different light, less trustworthy, not put on a pedestal, less worthy of fans appreciation? Or will people see it as just 'one of those things' and give him the love as we did last year? Maybe blame his agent and not see it as driven by him.

I'll go with the former but am just interested in what others think.

See Inigo Calderon as an example of how I think it would transpire.

Don't think anyone would disagree with that DKM, the club acted responsibly by extending the option, so at least they can negotiate out of the contract for some compensation and caveats to stop him turning up down the road at Stains.

But cannot force him to stay if he genuinely wants to join Elche to stay with family.

The way this is playing out in the media,it really could all be a ruse....... we had deal, deal went pear shaped due to Elche firm interest, We exercise option, Spanish press reporting he wants to go to Elche etc.....

Where the reality could conceivably be: Agent negotiotates best deal he can with us without any other firm suitors whilst trying to sound some out, one bites, he tells Brighton that Maybe Vicente wants to leave now and stops returning calls? He informs spanish media that deal with Elche is close and player will choose them if he can cancel contract. He comes to Brighton to re negotiate from that position.... "well if you offer xyz and can guarantee abc............. I know how much Vicente was impressed with his treatment last year, maybe I can change his mind" etc etc

who the f**k knows whats really happening

We can slag of Vicente's agent as much as we like but he is probably doing what is going to benefit him and also his client. If they let the clock run down on his contract, ie past the 30th June, then he would have been free to sign for a spanish club with a nice sign on fee of which the agent would get his percentage. Now, that sign on fee will have to come to the Albion as a transfer fee and the agent and Vicente will get less. Nothing really wrong with that. I suspect that Vicente wouldn't mind playing another season but at the end of the day, his family will, and should come first. If he can't persuade his wife to put up with one more year in sunny brighton then I doubt he will come.

If that is the case, we still want a transfer fee. You can't just start letting everybody go when we are entitled to a fee - there would be no transfer fees in football otherwise...
