Never mind "who will take it to Cardiff", what the fcuk was the plan for after the game?????

Having volunteered to receive it at the ground and set it on its way, we were left with it at the end with no instructions on how it was to get home. We didn't even know where the coaches were going from, let alone which one it should go on, or how it should get there.

Very helpfully jmc was uncontactable and although Lord B and Roz came over to discuss what to do, we were very much left holding the baby. In the end with some help from a few others we marched it back to the coaches and Supporters Club Coach 5 were kind enough to take it back to Conway St.

A particular thank you to the guys with the NSC Marvellous Scenes banner, who, when I explained the problem, made vague excuses and buggered off.

Rant Over: a truly marvellous day

Apologies CP03BHA, things went a bit tits up with the coaches - I had no idea where any of them where - f***ing pain in the arse, traffic etc... and couldn't find any on way home either :glare:

CP 0 3 BHA - You did everything that was needed in the stadium and more. You and your party deserve all our thanks.

But what on earth happened with group on the coach that the flag travelled on? By all accounts, there were not enough volunteers to get it to the stadium (whoever did the job was a real hero) and NO-ONE from the coach turned up at the end to get the thing back home.

Only thanks to a handful of last minute volunteers was it walked back to a coach (and, when they set off, none of them knew where the coach was parked). Some of these volunteers had trains to catch. And they were probably hoping for a post-match beer as well. They certainly deserve one.

Did it come back on the same coach? Where is it now?

Dozens of NSC users wanted the Giant Flag at Cardiff. It would have been nice if just some of you had helped out when needed.

Bollocks. I'm not f***ing taking that juvenile sarcasm.

If you had bothered to notice, we were very pre-occupied with the two banners making any further repsonsibilities a pain in the arse. It was hard work enough getting anyone to help with these banners. What did you want us to do, drop everything just for you?

I never said I was in a position to help with the flag in any way in the first place. Don't blame us for a communication breakdown. My reasons weren't vague, they were clear. I was not in a position to help. As it happened, the others were staying in Cardiff, and I only have one pair of hands.

Got it? :shootself

TLO - I have no idea who travelled on the coach with the Flag. When the offer was made to take the Flag on that coach, I think everyone assumed that the offer included getting it to the Stadium and collecting it afterwards. Otherwise, why was the offer made in the first place?

The fact of the matter is that there weren't enough people prepared to carry it from the coach to the Stadium. And NO-ONE turned up to collect it afterwards.

CP 0 3 BHA did what he said he would do (and more). The coach party didn't. I think he's right to be cross.

Maybe, but why with me? That flag wasn't on the coach I went on. In fact, I also have no idea whose coach it came on. He may well be cross, and I am sorry he feels this way, but it's pointless taking it out on an arbitrary group of half a dozen Albion fans who, as I have already stated, were already pre-occupied.

Apologies to all concerned. it came on my coach, but I didn't have any help getting it to the stadium until two chaps who lurk on nsc saw me dragging the bag down the street. Dozens of people went passed without trying to help, so a big thanks to the two guys that helped me literally drag it the mile or so to the stadium.

When I left it with CP0 BHA3 an absolutely top man in every way, he said he would call Lord B to sort it out afterwards. So mistakenly I thought some arrangements were in place. I was expecting a call afterwards if there were any problems.

Many thanks to Superphil and crew for delivering the flag to NSC 3 and getting it sorted, although I did offer to get across and have delivered to my coach, and then I would have had to put the flag in a cab and taken it home as I have no car.

Once again my apologies for f***ing it up afterwards, but there really was no solid plan in place all day. But at least it bloody got there, and looked great from the North stand. I have overheard one guy say how pleased he was to see it there, so I think the flag did it's job.

The lesson from all this is that if the flag travels it goes with crew of people who can handle it and and take care of it afterwards. But as people walked passed me in the coach park, you wondered whether anyone cared about it all.

What a day, sorry some of you ended up feeling rather cross when all about were celebrating. Didn't really see it as we were right up the back of north stand but must have looked good on tv.

it looked ok to me.

Could have done with a few more people in the corners of the lower stand to help support it, but cheered me up to see it..from
my position in U block.

I really thought we were going to lose - chuffed today of
course.

I'm flattered that you consider me juvenile given that you saw me in person and I am in fact an overweight 40 year old!

I fully understand that we all had our issues to deal with but there is a big difference between 6 guys holding a banner that could be rolled up and put under someone's arm (apologies if you in fact had another 49 on you that I didn't notice) and us being left with 12 stones and a cubic metre of Giant Flag and no idea where it had to go next - plus the fact that the bottom had gone from the builders merchant bag because Row Z Creased Shirt had to drag it most of the way from the coaches to the stadium because not enough people helped him.

I approached you guys because I saw the NSC logo and thought I'd found some people who would understand our problem, care about the flag and be prepared to help is some way. Sorry to have troubled you.

In the event we got it sorted and the day was not marred (how could it be :clap2: :clap2: ) but Row Z and I were rather left in the lurch.

The fact that I go on NSC is irrelevant. Of course I understood your problem - there was just very little I could do about it. And I have now had to say this three times.

It's possible the other five didn't hear your request.

Five people went in one direction, and I went in another. And I certainly could not "carry it under my arm" it wasn't made of lightweight paper, you know. I had to carry the MS banner on my shoulder. It was bloody heavy.

Well done for tracking down those that did help.

Don't want to sound picky or in anyway ungrateful for efforts by all to get it there on Sunday but if it was dragged there to the point the bottoms gone out of the bag is the flag itself ok?

Second question - do we need a new bag now to store the flag safely so it's protected at Withdean?

I don't want to drag this one on any further either but I would like to thank Superphil & Co., who, in the midst of the problems we were having outside Gate 3 stepped in, corralled several passers-by and walked the flag well over half a mile to get it onto a Supporters' Club coach. Had they not been prepared to put themselves out the flag might easily still be outside Gate 3! I'd also like to thank CP 0 3 BHA who found himself quite unexpectedly in charge of the flag and was trying his best to sort things out. Made all the harder by us not being able to help him because we couldn't make contact with anyone on the coaches or even knew for certain who had been on the coach that had brought it. Let alone know where the coaches were or have the time to get the flag to a coach and catch our train home! So if anyone involved in this brief but deeply unenjoyable fiasco has sounded a tad tetchy, please don't blame them! Because for a while, it did mar the end of an otherwise wonderful day. And once again, three cheers to Superphil.:clap2:

Speaking as one of the crew with CP 0 3 BHA that got it back to a coach (a big "Thank You" and  to the driver from Brighton and Hove Coaches by the way), I fully agree with both points above.

Yes, Lord B and Shankly, having helped to stuff the flag into the split bag inside the ground, and then roll it out into the 'sausage' to carry past the Castle to the coach park, I can say with authority that the flag IS ok... but a new bag is definitely needed...

(Nice to meet you, Lord B, and Roz, by the way...!
And thanks to Superphil and the others who helped us!)

Now then, as Lord B asks:

Where is the flag now??

Someone must know........

Anyone?

  :nono:
