Most outrage is from lies that are actually made from the government of the country, because, well they're actually governing the country.

A lie about what might happen in the future is only a lie if you know you are categorically not going to do it. A promise might be fanciful, but it doesn't make it a lie. If you present a lie and you are actually running the country, then of course the outrage is more profound. Was the outrage toward Tony Blair only confined to Tories? Of course it wasn't, that is exactly why we have the Labour Party we have today - the outrage was more profound from within the party.

You're a spin artist yourself as you are only ever interested in the defamation of the opposition, you never promote the positives of the party or policies you actually support.

Really? The Leave campaign wasn't in Government, they were the equivalent to the opposition against the government and most of the political establishment but many people bang on about their fibs/ misleading statements while never mentioning Remain campaign porkies.

A lie about what might happen in the future is only a lie if you know you are categorically not going to do it. A promise might be fanciful, but it doesn't make it a lie. Very hard to judge and gives politicians an easy get out but that definition doesn't seem to apply to politicians people don't like, they scream 'liar' at everything.

We all spin to varying degrees, nothing wrong in that. Not true (which doesn't make you a liar, merely mistaken), a few posts ago I stated there is only one choice for maintaining trust in our politics/democracy and finally enacting the referendum result. #letsgetbrexitdone

Silly old bat
they'll still be trade with the EU , somethings got to change and no one likes change but it's coming , is the country just going to stop functioning ?

Deluded. How do you trade with a trading block when you haven't got a trade deal?

Gods country fortnightly
Admit it, you only ever care about lies told by people you disagree with ...

All the current leaders have lied at some point, I have, I'm sure even you have. But for current the PM its an addiction, he lies even when he doesn't need to. He lies like no other PM we've ever had.

I know he's wearing your scarf. But, even if I was a Brexiter I wouldn't trust him, he has a broken personality.

Consequently he now leads a party that I used to think at least stood for honest values even if I didn't always agree with all their policies, they have lost their moral compass completely, he has smashed everything

Can I just check how you equate thinking we have to leave and your going on People's Vote marches?

Ideologically I believe our future prosperity is best served by being a significant player inside a large trading bloc. However, looking at the deep divisions that exist in our country now, I do not think they will be healed by staying in. It is a wound that will continue to fester and can only heal if we leave. We are, sadly, intent on damaging ourselves.

Look at it this way. If you are at a party with your partner and they are not having a great time, the more you say stay, the more they will want to leave. They may well stay out of loyalty to you, but when you get home, they won't let you forget it, and they'll constantly remind you of the fact every time a difficultly arises. It's poor analogy, but the point is that half the country needs to try out Brexit to see that Brexit will not make us stronger as a world economy. We are all at fault for not arresting the anti-EU narrative decades ago.

Police launch hate incident inquiry into Tory candidate over turban row

Former minister Philip Dunne is facing a police inquiry after he told a Sikh rival he was "talking through his turban" at a hustings event.

Mr Dunne, who is seeking re-election in Ludlow, apologised unreservedly for the offence caused by remarks made to Labour rival Kuldip Sahota during a debate in a local church on Wednesday evening.

According to witnesses, there was a sharp intake of breath and Mr Dunne - who has represented the Shropshire seat since since 2005 - only apologised at the end of the debate when he was told by Mr Sahota that the remarks were offensive.

West Mercia Police said in a statement: "Officers are investigating reports of an incident that took place at an event in Church Stretton, Shropshire, on Wednesday evening."

Local Policing Inspector Saf Ali said: "Officers are currently investigating the report, which is being treated as a hate incident. We take reports of such incidents extremely seriously and enquiries are currently ongoing."

Mr Dunne, an Oxford graduate and former banker, said: "I apologised to Kuldip Sahota for my comments last night. I apologise again unreservedly for the offence caused."

The IoD on Johnson's latest bullshit.

“While we need more clarity around the detail, the proposals outlined do not fit easily with ambitions for a 'Global Britain'. Indeed they suggest a retreat away from free and open markets, with clear implications for a comprehensive new trade relationship with the EU. This is not the kind of divergence we should be seeking in the first instance. It seems like a bad solution in search of the wrong problem.

“Even aside from the trading implications of these policies, there are concerns for the very small and medium sized businesses they claim to be prioritising. Propping up failing enterprises and obliging public bodies to ‘buy British’ could end up unfairly protecting and subsidising large incumbents at the expense of true competition and new entrants to the market. Locality simply cannot be the main determinant here, as there are rightly multiple criteria to ensure wider value for money.”

I am well aware of his many faults but he and the Tories are the only realistic choice to finally honour the referendum result plus, of course, preventing someone like Corbyn and his motley crew getting anywhere near Downing Street is equally important.

Looks like a safe seat for him so will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Constant bullshit and lies.

In 2016 the UK won a promise from the EU to be able to scrap the current 5% VAT on sanitary products. At that point, our government thought the new system would be in place by April 2017.

After the referendum, we lost most of our influence in the EU and the timetable slipped. The government used its limited political capital for other things. There is “no sign that the current Tory government has pushed the issue [of the tampon tax] in Brexit talks,” Labour MP Paula Sherriff said last year.

But the European Commission still published proposals covering the abolition of the tampon tax in 2018. Although the earliest date for implementation is January 2022, that’s just one year after the end of the “transition period” agreed by Boris Johnson – which he might end up extending anyway.

That was quite amazing [tweet]1200360662674763776[/tweet]

You know, it's staggering, I don't think people really understand that this isn't fake, it isn't Johnson sr playing silly buggers - This is how they feel about the general public, they truly don't understand how it makes them sound. They honestly think that they are superior and that we are the great unwashed. This is the heart and soul of the Conservative party, Dominic Cummings was absolutely right, they do not care about the rest of us, they do not care about the poor and they certainly do not care about the NHS.

So, since the rest of US, as you put it, don't feel that they care about US, we can safely say that the Tory vote in 2 weeks will be precisely NIL, can't we?
