Please before I start I need to condem all racism in all its forms

In the UK today there are around 264,000 Buddhists, 400,000 Jewish, 405,000 Sikhs , 1,000000 Hindus, 3,374,000 Muslim, 33,000000 Christians, 1,200,000 other smaller religions and 23,000000 who profess no religion.

Yesterday there were two huge news stories one from the chief Rabbi concerning antisemitism in the Labour Party, The Muslim Council of Britain voiced support for Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis comments and added their concerns saying As a faith community, we commonly are threatened by Islamophobia. This an issue that is particularly acute in the Conservative Party who have approached Islamophobia with denial, dismissal and deceit.

Today the BBC news is heavily reporting Antisemitism within the Labour Party how Jeramy Corbyn refused to apologise on the Andrew Neil interview, yet nothing from the BBC news today regarding Islamophobia and the Tories which by numbers potentially is a far greater problem BBC biased?

Emma Barnett has the leader of the Anglican church on this morning, what is she talking about? Yep Jeremy Corbyn refusing to apologise etc etc, it's pathetic.

Aren’t Scotland edging very close to leaving the UK anyway? Long before Brexit. A small party 25 years ago, they almost achieved independence 4 years ago, the upward curve in their vote unstoppable.

This will surely be the narrative when the Brexiteers are charged with breaking up the United Kingdom. It will, as is always said, be nothing to do with us.

You're right to point out that the cause of Scottish Nationalism has been around since before Brexit, although its recent growth has coincided pretty closely with that of English Brexitism. And if Dominic Cummings hadn't won in 2016 the issue of rerunning the 2014 Scottish referendum would not now be arising. And the incremental but apparently remorseless rise in support for a united Ireland would be far less advanced. And Plaid Cymru would be less at loggerheads with Westminster over the issue of GB's place in the world.

Yes it’s great to see them get a proper grilling. Those tv debates feel lame and set up. I’m sure Swinson is an open goal for Neill, as her policy in ignoring half the nation has completely fallen flat on its face. Boris will get accused of double standards, lying and not doing much to tackle enormous social problems. The thing about Boris is at least he can show that fiscally (if that’s a word), we shouldn’t go to ruin under him (unless he totally mucks up Brexit of course). The thing is if Labour had a sound financial plan I could live with, I’d be voting for them. I like a lot of policies and appreciate a second referendum. However, Corbyn can’t show how any of his policies will work or get paid for. Imagine borrowing 83bn nationalising everything and then finding that it’s not quite working how you’d imagined. 20bn, maybe you can ride it, but the numbers he is talking about are immense. The world is always a few deals away from another crash and to lumber yourself with that amount of debt is irresponsible.
I also think Corbyn has got the tax wrong, Neill killed him on it.

I totally get your sentiment, i doubt there is anyone who wouldnt want to do much on the Corbyn/McDonnell shopping list, who could be against money to the WASPI women, free tuition fees etc and billions and billions on their array of giveaways.

The simply problem is it cannot be funded or paid for except by debt, for all of Labours insistence 5% will stay and pay for it all, its an utter fantasy. Just yesterday the Landlords association said that rent controls, (and who could argue against them morally) will and have before made things worse and increased homelessness. Its this type of thing, along with all these crazy mega borrowing commitments, a type of socialist moral crusade/experiment that ignores fiscal realities or real actual consequences that is so dangerous.

2 simple facts are the last 2 labour governments have left power having bankrupted the country and every labour government since the war has left power with unemployment higher than when they took office.

Nothing wrong with social justice or progressive politics at all, it should be championed, but it has to be done in a responsible way that can be paid for with out causing economical damage and piling huge debt/austerity onto others down the line as reality bites and debts have to be paid, as they surely do.

I just hope the once great Labour party can again be taken over by the moderates and left of centrists and expel the radicalists/extremists and nutters who now hold the levers. If only David Milliband had beaten Ed, it could all have been so different. Boris is not the answer, but if the Question is Corbyn, then anyone but Corbyn has to be the only answer.

Who are these 'dark forces' .... a rightwing/Jewish conspiracy? Tinfoiltastic ...

This evening and tomorrow's news agenda will probably be full of Boris getting a justifiable roasting from Andrew Neil on many issues including Islamophobia.

I seriously cannot understand how people STILL blame the 2008 global financial crash on Labour. It beggars belief that after all this time there are still people saying it.

It was the ****ing banks!! Just do a bit of reading. Financial institutions the size of small countries bankrupted themselves. Get a grip on reality. If you can make this statement above, how can anything else you've said be taken with any sense?

The BBC is terrified of people of your persuasion but 10000 times the influence accusing it of representing the anti-Brexit metropolitan elite. If I hear one more BBC News vox pop revealing how the traditional Labour voters of Hartlepool/Mansfield/Boston/Stoke are all going to vote for Boris I may have to emigrate permanently to Sky. As it is, I switch between the two and marvel at the difference. All I want is even-handedness.

Ahhh Sky, that Murdoch owned news platform that all of a sudden appeals to you as it apparently doesn’t report stuff that you don’t like the sound of!

If anyone can show any actual evidence of this bias I would be very grateful, one of the most amusing things I read on here recently was a criticism of Laura Kuenssburg ... it's not what she says it was she doesn't say :lolol:

Indeed, first act of the Blair Government was the referenda which led to the establishment of the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly (non-binding referenda too, although of course the results were respected). We have been on the path to devolution ever since.

The fly in the ointment was, of course, that Blair had a vision of the devolved "home" countries under the umbrella of the EU. He neglected to obtain the approval of the English to that, as he knew they would have told him where to poke it. And so, post the 2016 referendum, that's one of the main reasons why we find ourself up poo creek sans paddle. Only IMHO of course.

It's no wonder Blair cannot let this go.

With the exceptions of Newsnight and BBC South East Today, I gave up on watching BBC News a long time ago in preference of Sky News and C4 News. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

You learn something everyday....

Sky was bought out by Comcast over a year ago. For years before that Sky News has always been very balanced and was editorially independent from Murdoch's political persuasions. It was frankly chalk to Fox News's cheese by way of a Murdoch media owned outlet comparison.

So why is he avoiding apologising for his parties failure to control anti Semitic behaviour in its ranks?

Because he cannot 'control' 500,000 members, 0.1% of which have been accused of antisemitic behaviour. The Labour Party can only have disciplinary processes and guidelines in place which they have done. Politicising this has to be done fairly, so we cannot really have the discussion without applying it to the other parties.

Why won't Boris Johnson apologise for his Aberdeen candidate making holocaust denial remarks, his own comments about the burka, or apologise for a failure to deal with islamophobia in the Tory Party as repeatedly pointed out by Baroness Warsi who said "the Tory Party is failing to deal with racism at every level" and their problems were "institutional" but seemingly not followed up on with the same rigour as with Labour?

Indeed.

Tory Party supporters failure to accept this clear and obvious bias, is pathetic. Embarrassing to be honest.
