....are laughing at us.

Tonight I received a phone call from a 'married' pair of gay male friends. They were laughing their socks off about the report on BBC TV Southeast that Albion fans had made official complaints about homophobic chanting.

They feel that this action will only make things worse, and was probably made by some attention seeking drama queen(s), their words not mine.

Well done to all those involved. :stupid:

Married may be irrelevant, gay isn't.

'Man up' was a comment THEY used.

I cannot be certain (because it was early!) but I'm sure I heard breakfast tv mentioning the possibility of playing fake crowd chants over the speakers to cover up homophobic chants? Did I really hear that?

I think you have just made that entire story up. I don't care either way on whether people complain or not but It's just not funny or sad enough for anyone to ring up "laughing their socks off". Must try harder.....

People can take the piss as much as they like about these chants, but in 2011 they need to stop.

Is there anyone who thinks it acceptable to sing 'take it up the bum' in a stadium filled with 1000s of kids?

Other than on the pitch you seldom hear racist shouts at games, so why the f*** are people saying homophobic chants are ok, and gay people don't really mind?

The law is quite clear, so the club need to act.

So calling the ref a wanker is ok though? Or calling whoever is on the pitch thatthey are a wanker etc.

It's a football match and if your precious kids can't be hearing this then stay away.

Yep. Me too. I don't believe a word of it.

It seems that many people are happy to dismiss as lies anything that does not fall into place with their own opinions.

Oh, I forgot to mention that one of them is black.

So he knows a bit about sexism and racism.

Anyone else doubt my honesty?

Not doubting your honesty but could you not have just posted this on one of the other threads?

I think people are missing the point. I doubt ANY Albion fans find the chants offensive. I personally find them rather funny/juvenile, and enjoy the retorts of '1-0 to the Nancy boys' etc. and in a way wouldn't want it to stop because it would lower banter levels. But people need to remember where this originated from: an armchair viewer thinking fans were chanting 'sheep shagger' to Craig Bellamy, and the FA investigated the claims. Now the idiot of a viewer was wrong, but if he had been right (and I'm sure there were a few fans chanting that to Bellamy tbh) then they may have received lifetime bans. Why then should homophobia be treated any differently than racism within football grounds, when it isn't outside?

No I can't. What they were saying is that the away fans will just do it more now that they think it winds us up.

Personally I look forward to making them look stupid, yet again.
