Criticism of referees and/or VAR brings no good except a £15000 fine from the FA.
Criticism of opposition players or managers comes across as sour grapes.
Neither helps us, nor has any control of how he manages our team.

He was asked a leading question, to which he had to give a response. Some fans don’t like it. Tough.

True. The point was, he normally adroitly dodges leading questions and so its noteworthy that he chose to share his real feelings on this occasion.

I love the bloke and think he's doing a terrific job, Id love to know if Locadia has been impressing in training though...

Next demands for a booing section for the idiots who don't understand football.
I'm pretty sure that those booing, would still be booing and picking on players if we won 5-0 and Maupay missed a sitter and moans on social media on why hadn't we scored 10.

There was a little booing but considering there were some 30k in the stadium it was from a massive minority. GP mentions it and it becomes a bigger issue than it truly was. Then the media pick up on it and it is amplified even more and off the scale.

There should be more things to worry about than the 'noise' from the few. OK Maupay missed a couple but if we created so many chances, others missed as well. In truth in the second half Leeds had better chances than us even though they are supposed to have been awful.

This is the age of the media hype. We do not need to feed it !

Is your argument that Potter has no say in transfers / scouting etc. ?

Of course he has a say and I'm sure that if DA or PW saw a great training exercise somewhere, they have a say in coaching. But GP is not in charge of recruitment and they are not in charge of coaching.

The "manager role" become outdated some time in the 1970s, meaning it started to be phased out in England some time in the early 2000s. In another 30 years or so I expect fans to finally catch up with reality and understand that it actually isnt the head coach "spending £100m" but a sport/football/technical director with the backup of a recruitment team.

I too was going to make the point that on the Radio Sussex thing he was only responding to a question about the booing. He didn’t initiate the subject, and his comments were, as usual, totally considered.

The "maybe I need a history lesson on this club" comment, is a shit response.
Recent history is we dominate possession, play nice football, and fail to win the game, and get a point if we are lucky, that is where the frustration comes from. I thought Potter had some emotional intelligence, but he can't work out why there were fans feeling frustrated last night?

I am a Potter fan, love the way we play football under him, and in no way do I want him to leave, but the frustration of watching us draw or lose to teams that we are out playing builds week on week. And then he brings Locadia on.

So why do you have a 100 man team in charge of identifying areas of improvement and identifying what those improvements would be if it is all down to the coach? Do these 100 people dont have any responsiblity?

No idea what you mean with your second sentence. Head coach is literally his job:

https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/club/club/whos-who

In any Premier League game you have 20+ cameras covering the game, all the major newspapers and a multitide of online coverage, GPS tracking of each player and each action. They can work with that. If they are seriously sitting around in their offices being completely unaware of what the team needs unless someone comes knocking at their door, they need to get sacked.

You think 100 people spend all their waking hours doing that and the best striking options they can come up with are a Dutch DJ who ducks headers and waddles, a perma-injured former starlet, a Romanian psycho and a South African midget who doesn't even have a work permit? Maybe we need a different hundred?

And you think the coach just stands by and thinks "you know what, I should probably say something about that but, what the hey, it's not really my place"? Maybe we need a different coach?

The issue is simple. Either Maupay is our number one striker and we should play him if he's fit, or he's not, in which case we need another number one, because the others aren't cutting it. Or we go with the middle option of not having one at all and getting commendable draws at Liverpool and barely a shot against Newcastle or Villa. The selection, motivation and tactics of those players is entirely down to the Head Coach.

Do you know what a horse designed by a committee is?

Sure you could argue they could do better in the strikers department but its a difficult job. Its not really the "we need a new copy machine" kind of problem.

As for what GP is saying at his job, you know as much about that as he knows about what you're saying at yours.

Problem is that neither sitting on Wyscout or stands scouting players, knocking doors, saying "I need a new striker" or drawing horses creates a new striker out of thin air. There is not a lot of strikers that are both affordable, willing and competent enough, which is most likely the issue - not some lack of awareness. If there was five copy machines in the world, it would be a struggle to get one for your team as well however much you knocked on your boss door.

I didn't boo but was extremely frustrated.

People have the right to boo , it's not always directed at anyone ,

I think Potter has got off very lightly over the last few seasons , mainly because the stadium has been empty . If he has thin skin then eventually he will walk away and join another club. But he cannot be above criticism (ie Locadia substitution , formation etc)

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
If we can't get results against teams in the bottom six or seven, we will inevitably slide down the table, and end up where we deserve to be. The occasional freak point against a top six team isn't going to feed us forever.

It feels like a repeat of last season is looming from now on.

The fact we spent a lot on Locadia (at the time) and now can't sell him for a set of shirts is a damming indictment of the recruitment and retention policy over the last few years.

It's all about results - not pretty but ineffective tippy-tappy.

I've said similar in the past to bw2 to be fair but we have twin, emergency issues to deal with now;

1) Maupay's finishing isn't going to get better from the bench. Play him and back him if 100 guys can't find a player with better finishing.
2) In any case, his replacements are even worse (or just less fit) so what incentive does he have to improve if his only competition is Trossard playing too deep?

I think bringing Locadia on yesterday was GP knocking on Tony's door. Time will tell.......

It was customers he was calling out, not fans. Probably the same members of the Potter Out Campaign who criticised the manager for not showing enough emotion in press conferences or on the touch line last season.

Well, they got their emotion yesterday.

A point well made about fans v customers, but then where were the fans yesterday? I wasn't completely surprised to hear boos at the final whistle, but I expected them to be quickly drowned out by sustained applause from fans for the quality of the performance. They weren't. A few of us clapped but the players looked visibly downcast by the response.

Eh? You have basically re worded the job is to win football matches  unless there is a magical points fairy I don’t know about.

Unless they have changed the rules overnight, which I don't think they have, you get a point for a draw, 38 draws would be enough to stay up!

To be honest I never thought the DJ would ever kick a ball again for us. I'm taking his inclusion as a message from Potts for the need for the chairman to dish the dosh in January.

That is certainly the only explanation that makes any sense at all.
