In a way, absolutely. I think it is a lovely CV from a romantic viewpoint. Point is that CV does not matter very much in football: knowledge and quality matters.

Even if it mattered, Potters CV isnt bad either. Not long ago he was the last standing English manager in the European cups despite coaching the team of some Swedish ski resort.

As for attention seeking, is that what we must now call that small minority of posters that don't start every post with 'I love Graham Potter but...'? It's what the Cult Of Potter always do. Not so much not watching, but for some the football is almost irrelevant to the result, like the 2 aren't actually linked. There is no enjoyment of the game itself without the result. It's quantum physics in a way, that the flow of time during a game isn't the thing that shapes the result at the end. The Cult of Potter is replaced with the Cult of the Result.

The media has largely caused this. While football is a 'results business' for owners, sponsors and investors who want a return on investment, it shouldn't be for fans, we are in the 'supporting our team' business, which is through thick and thin. I kind of get sick and tired of fans referring to 'it is a results business' because you may as well be wearing a Sky jacket and be part of the evil empire rather than the rebellion.

I don’t get to the Amex to much these days for a few reasons. I did go to Everton & Newcastle. Everton we were all over the place, Newcastle second half was diabolical and In all honesty I could only see one winner luckily Sanchez put the team before himself. Villa away Potter made diabolical subs which cost the game & Leeds told its own story we couldn’t beat a really crap team again at the Amex.

I'd say I've got one foot in this cohort.

I can absolutely enjoy the way we play, and regularly do, but playing that way without getting the win does tend to put a stain on it for me. Later in life when I'm thinking back over games I'm not going to remember that time we played well but came away with a draw against Leeds. I'm going to remember that time we stuffed them in the Championship

I kind of disagree with the second bit too, about the 'supporting our team' business. We can support the team and be miffed that we can't seem to put teams away.

For me it is a results business - always has been regardless of our manager.
